Nelly Furtado's Loose is one of the best albums this year.. Im sorry but they really worked on this album..I swear Timbaland production never sounded more top notch..if nly Aaliyah can embrace us with her vox again and his beats..but anyway..
From track 1-10 man, it is awesome!!!! Especially my favorite track "Do It" (Wich MUST have a sample of the Linn Drum from "Screams Of Passion") in all it's Madonna 80's glory. But it is the relationship of Tim's dark kickdrums and quick highhats and pounding snares that just turn my ear on like Boris Kodjoe sweating in the hot sun... ANyway um, yes nelly Furtado's gets a **** in my book, a flat ass cover for a HOT ASS ALBUM though..come on, they cudda done better than THAT Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I haven't heard the whole thing yet but besides the singles, "Afraid", "Glow", and no "No Hay Igual" are hot.
I don't think she completely sold out, either, like some people think she did. The sexy new image and a blatantly commercial song like "Promiscuous" could be considered a partial selling-out of sorts, but as far as I can tell thus far, Nelly's unique sounds are still all over the place, just as they were on her other two records.

I completely agree. Purchased Loose the day it came out. Almost every track is a winner. My absolute favorites are "Say It Right," "Do It" and "Showtime." All three should be singles.
I'm really glad I bought the album.

I'm really glad I bought the album. I totally agree. I loved the first single even though I thought it was obvious she had to 'sex it up' to get a hit..but then you hear the album and you get so much diversity all on one record...you get funky Nelly, soulful Nelly, spiritual Nelly, Latin Nelly, and Dance-Pop Nelly and even a bit of the folky Nelly of old.....love it..... The song 'No Hay Igual' is hot hot hot! peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Afterwards, "Showtime" would make a great fall/winter single. Slow things down a bit.

Here in Portugal we had a custom edition with extra tracks! She loves us Portuguese!

I don't feel Nelly is getting enough credit for this collab. Sure Tim produced "Promiscuous" but please, Tim doesn't really have a pop bone in his body, and with all the poppiness(sp) on this album it surely comes from Nelly. Just listen to "Promiscuous", I say those keyboards on the chorus were more likely her influence. The flute-loop is a toss-up because it's the one part of the song that sounds like both of them.
It's just one of the examples of Nelly's part of the creative process that I think gets ignored when critics say this album sounds nothing like Nelly and that Timberland (especially on the front end of the album) had a bigger influence.

I'm waiting for her to tour. I keep checking her official site and it's still listing two Japan festival dates for August. Nothing North American.

Well "NHI" was supposed to be the second single and in fact a vid was shot, but the label backed off of it because it didnt feel it was a good idea mainly because of the language barrier. To me the latin side of Nelly is the stronger part of her, one of the reasons i was anxious for this record was for her work with Juanes probably one of the best in latin music but the record was a letdown for me because that side of nelly wasnt given a fair shot. That's interesting since Shakira's all-Spanish "La Tortura" was one of the biggest crossover smashes on English-speaking mainstream radio in decades and that was just last year. I can see NHI doing well here. Reggaeton has a healthy presence on urban radio, but then again, this song was already pushed on iTunes this Spring, so it seems old to me now. I'm hearing a lot of folks wanting "Maneater" to be released in the States, but it's already a monster in Europe (went to #1 in the UK) so I have no idea what her team is thinking now. The next dance should be "Do It" -- I'd be a very happy boy.

I mean if you just glance at the top 40 there are tracks on there that have been 6+ months, that is crazy, that in my mind causes the stagnation. In the european market it seems to be much quicker with releases, even with american artists. Case in point Bon Jovi has had only singles released here in the USA for their latest cd which has been out awhile now, where in europe they have released 4 and are readying a 5th, and in europe there are no "radio" tracks everything has a cd single. As for the Shakira thing, i think labels feel that she is the "fluke" or the exception to the rule and doesnt want to get caught in a "crossover" phase again which is dumb because most of the contemp latin artists like Shakira, Paulina etc are light years ahead of american artists. [Edited 8/5/06 12:57pm] [Edited 8/5/06 12:59pm] You're touching on a lot of interesting points. If NHI were released in a different climate, I could see it being a Double A-side with "Promiscuous." It's already been iTune'd, so I doubt it'll get a proper physical single. That's rare now anyway. We'll see. The promotion of "Loose" is far from over. She can ride this album out all '07. ...
