i never go by what critics say....i always trust my opinion better than someone else's...

Sometimes critics are right, sometimes wrong. Like 'Musicology' got a better general rating than '3121' on that site. That's totally wrong! disbelief

Yeah , and that's YOUR opinion , but you can't speak for the maojority , No one ever can .
It all keeps 2 each it's own in the end . Your opinion isn't mine , so how in the world can you state someones view as "right" above someone else one's who might like it .

Of course all art is subjective, but I meant "right" and "wrong" in terms of in agreement or not with what you think. How many times have you watched a movie you really liked and then read a review that agreed with you and you said "yeah, this guy got it right"? That's all I'm saying. shrug

Now having said all of that, my opinion is when it comes to 'Musicology' and '3121', the critics were wrong. razz

Okay , it's indeed cool if you can agree with someone's POV .
But critisism is such an easy thing to do you know .
And although artists , producers , directors , actors , etc admit themselves any now and then that they've had a hit or miss , i still appreciate and realise the whole process they took for that project ( recording , filming , etc ) which is so easily forgotten & judged by critics sometimes .

Which is why I think you will rarely see an album get truly panned across the board, at least on that metacritic site anyway. Of the fifty or so latest releases, the only one that got a red (or generally negative reviews) rating was the new Paul Okenfold record.

... And what is?

i haven't found the best r&b soul cd yet for this year, but i know that he has some good songs on his cd, but i still skip through most of it, therefore, for me, his cd is not the best i've heard this year. Thanks.

I hope you aren't trying to imply what I'm inferring. Anyway, I wasn't attacking your opinion. I was honestly curious. If you know Van Hunt's CD isn't your favorite, what is? (FTR, I said nothing about R&B/Soul.) What is the best album (or albums if you can't narrow it down) you've heard this year?

I bought the new Pharrell CD and that shit is the wackness. I was so disspointed. How can this man make so many hot beats for other artists and not do the same for himself? Also, I saw the new Janet Video (well part of it anyway). Damn, I was dissapointed. What a poor choice for your first impression. Lord help us. Will good music make a return soon??

Pharells album aint DAT BAD!!!

There are some Hot trax on it like "I Really Like U" "Angel" "Young Girl" "Number One" and the one slow jam (#11)
Otherwise, it didnt dissapoint me cuz I didnt have high expectations (though I HATE him rappin...)

Its worth about 8.99

I must say young girl is da bomb! I wish the whole cd was more or less like that one.

Didn't you just start a thread about SexyBack? confused
EDIT: Oh and yes, new music sucks. Started sucking in the 90s or so. There are some exceptions of course, but anyway.

I did I like that song and think it's better than Pho Real's stuff!

Well, there are (more than) a few threads on Van Hunt that will give you a better feel. To horribly oversimplify, it's an eclectic album that's influenced by artists like Sly, Curtis, Stevie, and Prince yet still manages to sound fresh. Van's not what I'd call the best singer vocally, but the songs are on point. You should give it a listen!

In that case, where've you been for the last 6 months?! biggrin At the risk of adding to the hype, I think most of us agree that OTJF is better than the debut.
