Anyone heard of this guy? Picked up the CD today while browsing in a wrecka stow, and the sticker said "cut from the same cloth as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Betty Davis and Sly Stone". Figured with comparisons to those four - how could it be bad? It's pretty good, really thick pop-funk not unlike the song 3121.

Like Prince, Nino Moschella is one funky little dude.

Like Prince, he's also one talented little dude. Like Prince, Moschella recorded this album by himself, writing, playing and producing all these old-school soul and funk tracks in his home studio.

And like Prince, he knows how to craft an irresistible groove, stack it with sharp hooks and strong melodies, and then top it with seductively soulful falsetto vocals. But quite unlike Prince, Nino Moschella is a white San Franciscan of Irish and Italian descent.

Only listened twice - not sure if it's one of those cd's that will die a quiet death in my cd rotation a la D'Angelo Voodoo cause it ends up being nothing more than an imitation of other things, or if it really is new, original, fresh funk. Time - and a couple more listens - will tell...

I started a thread on him before, no responses. I wanted to get the album for some time, but it's too expensive, IMO. Hard to get on ebay, too.

i have had his album for a few months...its kool...compared to most garbage today it rocks !!
