SCHOOL ME on "Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds!"

To get a true picture it's best to view them as 2 separate entities.

Donald Byrd's Dominoes only gives you a sliver of what he's about being that he was a respected Jazz trumpeter since the 50s.
He also became a music educator and during his tenure at Howard University assembled a group of students into The Blackbyrds.
With Donald Byrd as producer (I believe the Mizell brothers were in on some of them), they had a string of popular Jazz/Funk albums during the 70s.
