Dead Or Alive
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam Again, I own loads of 12" singles, but no albums. With Lisa Lisa, I used to have the first three LPs, but sold them on ebay and just listen to the 12"s now.

A few more come to mind:
The Cars (I'll buy a hits set, soon) Earth, Wind and Fire (too many collections out there, which is the best) Bon Jovi (I kind of like them.....but I guess I could have bought their hits CD years ago) Elton John (His most recent two CD set looks pretty complete...maybe if I find one with the bonu disc)

Razorlight. Two utterly fantastic albums by an equally utterly fantastic band of which I'm yet to purchase either.

Marvin Gaye (MUST get round to buying What's Going On)
Kate Bush Tina Turner Carole King (MUST get round to buying Tapestry) Brand New Heavies Ohio Players most recently, a girl from UK called Lily Allen, whose song Smile I really like, but I'm not too keen on the rest of the album. There's probably a lot more that I've forgotten (hence why I haven't bought any of their stuff )

Same here, except, no matter how hard I try, I can't get into that album. But hey, if it took me that long to vibe to a certain album I've already mentioned in a couple other threads as of late, this could be a similar situation. Just gimme time...

Same here, except, no matter how hard I try, I can't get into that album. I knew I should've taken my own advice. If you can't get into that album, it follows that you can't get into the title track (since it all just flows from there). Except if there were ever a song everyone should be able to get into, it's "What's Going On." I still have a hard time believing those stories about Berry Gordy not liking it. I guess it's possible, but damn! I'm kind of curious what it is you don't like about it... "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I guess it's just because it bores me to tears, and not because of a lack of instant hooks or anything of the sort, but just because something about it... drags. It doesn't hold my interest, musically (even if what Marvin's singing/saying is as heartfelt and relevant today as it was 35 years ago). Albums I can't get into for the life of me have a strange way of growing on me over time, though. Like I said, we'll see if that's the case for WGO.

At the risk of being struck by lightning, why don't you try listening to it on shuffle? I know it sounds weird to suggest, but maybe trying to digest the whole album at once is too much right now. As someone who wasn't born when the album was released, I had already known and loved the radio hits (the title track, "Mercy Mercy Me," and "Inner City Blues") when I bought the record. I used to think it dragged a little towards the end, but that's just because I was impatiently waiting for the final song (and, really, how can you not love that one?! ). Now I think the record is flawless and the ending of "What's Going On" always makes me think fondly of "What's Happening Brother." I'm sure you'll grow to love it. I love Let's Get It On, but it's my third favorite of Marvin's behind (1) What's Going On and (2) I Want You, which might just be the sexiest thing ever recorded. I really like Guns&Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Elton John.Since I've only bought Prince music 4 the past I don't know how many years,it's as if I just can't bring myself 2 buy anybody else's! Just doesn't seem right...I also won't buy new releases so as not 2 hurt 3121 sales! I know, strange but true!! I'd feel as if I was being unfaithful 2 Prince by supporting other cd's..
