Janet Jackson's beau brands Spears and Aguilera as 'copycats'

Washington, July 26: Branding Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera as copycats, Janet Jackson's rap mogul beau Jermaine Dupri has praised his sweetheart's originality in her work.

Dupri, who according to speculation is planning to tie the knot with Jackson on September 26th this year, said that the forthcoming album will set the standard for her rivals in the business, and be a trendsetter.

"Only Janet records sound like her. I always look and think, where's Beyonce going to be in 20 years?' It's hard for me to visualise. I don't put them on the same plane", Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

"Artists just need to make good music. I said to Janet, 'All you got to do is sing.' Britney and Christina Aguilera are all copycats of one person".

"Janet doesn't go for the same typical cars and street videos. She was the reason we started to watch TV. She's back to her full capacity and blowing it out to the level", he added.

Comical. And "Call On Nelly" is sooooo original? Fish face, boop. Combine fractions of 3LW "Feelin' You", Bow Wow & Ciara's "Like You", & Kelly/Nelly old #1 hit "Dillemma" and you have Janet Jackson's new record. JD know "singing" is not all Janet has to do....how you gonna do something you never could? lol We've been trying to find Janet's imaginary "vocal prowess" for over 20 years now. Why is JoJo 15 years old & is outsinging her by stratospheres? Is Miss Jackson wearing all those bullshit costumes & those amateur graphic settings in her video supposed to change the game? confused Why Britney clone Janet's gimmick & successfully outsold her with it in less than a decade's time. lol What is the Christina comparison based on, does he really wanna go there. Shut up JD. lol neutral

Exactly, his whole rant holds no merit at all. Especially since he is a producer who specializes in everyone sounding alike, I would take this argument more seriously if Janet wasnt trying to be just like Beyonce and the other ladies, and now to bring Mariah in for a duet because you want to make sure this CD sells, would they have dueted with mariah if "glitter" was out now?. So stop complaining JD, or if you are going to complain do something different, dont do duets with Nelly and Mariah, stop trying to sell to 15 year olds.

I think it's fake, I just can't see JD or Janet saying that about Beyonce, unless he was misquoted. I don't see why JD would bring negativity to promoting this project. If it's true, they need to shut him up and reduce him to Rene' handbad staus.

Janet was going to record a duet/remix of 'It aint right' with Mariah during the Glitter period

I think it may be real since everyone that is putting something out this fall is talking their work to death. I mean Justin and his rants, Beyonce and her lunacy and now JD going off, it just seems like "Hype" building, but in the end musically i dont think anything "new" or noteworthy will be delivered.

But i think what ended up happening was Mariahs negative press and sales, caused everyone to step away from Mariah like the plague.

I hope it's not true, 'cause not matter if someone dislikes Beyonce' or not not, to say she won't have a legacy is just jealousy, she will be remembered, she just needs to go away for a while and come up with better material. She could and probably will be the modern day Diana Ross.

Um...I always thought Britney was much more of a Janet rip off than a Madonna wannabe. Fer sure.

But Christina? I don't see it.

Bingo. At least Diana Ross has some classic music to her legacy and not just her fame and stylish diva persona. Beyonce has had little else besides generic, radio-ready r'n'b, musically (although "Deja Vu" has a nice live band sound). Unless she grows as an artist by integrating more musicality and substance into her material, I just can't bring myself to call her the proper heir to Ms. Ross and all the other female R&B greats.

Yes, i feel you. I need to see a link-site to believe that one. I cant see JD saying that. He would be CrAzY to say that.

But you never know... he was quoted as saying Dr. Dre was less talented than him.. Hmmm... go figure

It's FAKE. This was started on the Faded Youth blog, along with the rumour about Kelly Rowland's pregnancy.

Wait a minute now,....y'all are giving Miss Ross too much credit for establishing her own musical legacy. She always had pre-eminent songwriters working for her who just told her to "sing." But, then again, she has 18 number one singles - she was doing something right.

That said, Dupri's doing what any boyfriend would do, even though he's 100% out of his mind.

Fake or Not, if this is Ms. Jackson's idea of a single, then the others, including Beyonce have nothing to worry about. This was a bad choice for a single. The song is boring....it sounds as if she is making a guest appearance on Nelly's track....In my opinion, she has fallen off big time.....she used to be the one's that these new stars measured themselves against. Now, it is the other way around. Even psycotic Mariah, will stand a better chance against Janet right now. Janet needs to listen to the "Control" album again....Maybe then she will get inspired.

Britney and Christina Aguilera are all copycats of one person.

Yeah, we know, but I won't say who because I'll be accused of something....you know! Britney's 3rd album does sound very close to Janet's AFY, which was released like 6 months before.

"All you got do to is sing"....That really sounds insulting and diminish her as a writer/producer. He's an ass and way too invloved in Janet's career. Janet really shouldn't be in love with an obessed fan who thinks he can save her career...after all, she never feel for me!

JD acts like this is a rap producer beef like he had a few years back. Some people should never have a microphone put in front of them.
That being said, he's telling some truths. Beyonce, Christina A, Britney and many others have borrowed from Janet. That's no secret.

I hope it's fake, because Dupree ain't in no position to talk, especially as a producer dropping all these tired-ass forgettable sampled beats you'll find on the radio and charts today. It's not like he created anything original either.

I HOPE this isn't true. Remember when he came outta his mouth SIDEWAYZ a few years ago about Dr. Dre & Timbaland and it caused a big-ass backlash?? He should REALLY watch his words!!!! And THEN ask himself:
1)Where is Xscape NOW?????
2)Where would Janet be w/o Jam & Lewis????
3)Why do I have to taint Janet's legacy by saying "So So Def" all over her fu**kin' CD!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I could see him dissin' Britney, but out of ALL those "girls" only TWO of them can REALLY SANG: Miss Aguilera & Pink!!!!!

It already isn't, considering the success of the new track.
