The Neptunes -vs- Timbaland

I think these are the best two producers out right now. But if you had to choose, which do you prefer Timbaland or the Neptunes.and why.

Timbaland. Not just for the hot dance beats but for himself as a guest. It's not always about him, it's about the songs as witnessed by his work with Missy. It's also not as much about business (at least it doesnt' appear to be). They won't work with Kelis or Justin....Ok! I also think that Timbaland's work, while distinctive, is about the artist he is working with as well.

Timbaland. For his work with Aaliyah alone.

Surprise, surprise. I'm picking the NEPTUNES. They have been consistantly tatooing urban radio for almost ten years now. They've introduced artists with stayng power and writen and produced some of the most memorable tunes of the last decade. This decade belongs to the NEPTUNES. No one has done what they have done on the scale that they've done it in the same time span. That being said, I love what Timbaland has brought to the game during the past few years.

I would say Tim. His head is not high in the clouds like the Neptunes. Almost everything Tim does is hot..Brandy's last CD was good (I did not like it much..but it was danceable), Aaliyah's stuff, etc. Neps keep using the same beats. You can spot a Nep song within the 1st couple of beats

Indeed. Same old shit. Creatively, they peaked in 2001.

Timbaland. The Neptunes' sound was fresh in the beginning (like Timbaland's), but now feels stale. But hey, unless I'm wrong, some of the public was beginning to get a little tired of Timbaland's signature tricks sometime at the beginning of the new millennium and since then, he's changed it up several times (the new Nelly Furtado CD and Aaliyah's One In A Million or Missy's Da Real World sound nothing alike).

So maybe the Neps can find ways to reinvent themselves...

I prefer Timbaland based mainly on his 90's work, especially the stuff with Magoo and "Are You That Somebody?"

I love Aphrodisiac; it's supremely underrated. Anyway, I think Timbaland wins easily. He's managed to stay at the forefront for the last 11 years running. He's had a big hand in some of my favorite CDs in those times (Aaliyah's last 2, Playa, the first album with Magoo, a slew of Missy tracks, Ginuwine's debut, etc.).

Wierd one...

I feel the Neptunes' stuff more (probably because it's derivative of all the old-schoolers I already loved), but I'm gonna go with Timbaland, based on his own more original style.

He doesn't need to. I see them like this:
Timbaland: Pretty chick people want to be around
Neptunes: The ugly chick with personality

Neptunes. Too many hot joints to fuck with. Timbaland probably has more staying power, the neptunes seem to be slipping.

WRONG!

He doesn't play a thing;FACT!

He cannot play keyboards(he even said it on Jayz dvd).

He does not play bass!

There is no drums on his tracks just drum machines which anyone can learn to use i a matter of hours!
