That's pretty funny... Maybe Bowie was making fun of Numan's sorta robotic persona and music.

Maybe Bowie was making fun of Numan's sorta robotic persona and music. it read like bowie was not at all flattered by numan's sincere imitations, and simply couldn't be bothered. the meeting was back in the mid/late 70s, so i'm sure ol uncle dayvid wasn't exactly on best behavior. in subsequent interviews over the years, though, bowie's never had kind words for numan.

Well Numan has essentially made a career out of aping Bowie's "Berlin" period. If I was Bowie, I'd probably diss him as well.

I alwyas thought that song from the seventies called "You Sexy Thing" (by Hot Chocolate?) was Bowie. Not that the style of music sounded like Bowie, but the guy's voice made me think it was him-- especially the part where he sings "I believe in miracles..."
Am I alone on this one? | |

If Freddy Mercury and Tim Curry could make a baby, a la Conan's "If They Mated", I could eeeeasily picture thier daughter being Mary Woronov. ahhh, Freddie and Frankfurter- two great tastes that taste great together.

Bowie is the fountain of all that is cool.

...
I was gonna say Bill Nelson's stuff, especially when he's singing, But it's interesting that Bowie's producer said that Nelson's album, "After the Satellite Sings" was a big influence on the sound of Bowie's "Earthling" album....("Satellite" came out the year before ).... ... To answer this question in reverse, the chorus to Andy Warhol off of Hunky Dory seems like something Sinead O'Connor has studied at great length. My Legacy
