The Return of MYA.......Thank God!! I never thought the day would come, though no official date is set, but MYA is set to return with a new CD this Fall, a single by the end of Summer, and a club tour once again, similar to the dates she did for "Moodring". The reason i say thank god MYA is back its mainly because its finally a return of a RB female who just shakes up the "norm". Diversity is one word i give to MYA, which almost no one in RB gets, i think her last CD "Moodring" and Aaliyahs final CD "aaliyah" were the 2 of the greatest statements by RB females in a real long time, mainly because they were all over the place. I also think one of the best things about MYA is that SHE does what she wants, she doesnt give a crap about mainstream and what people will like, and also she takes these gaps between albums to at least make U miss her. Unlike Beyonce/Sasha who is in your face 24/7, with the same stuff over and over, no change, no diversity at all. Some may say that MYA's sales are dropping, her last cd came in about 1 million in the states. But honestly thats what you are going to get from MYA, some people like her and some people hate her, there is no middle ground, she does not give in to the trends of the day. Some people had trouble with her last cd "Moodring" because it was too diverse, WHAT???? why is diversity a bad thing?
So say what you what about MYA, she may not be the greatest in Vocals, but she works with what she has got, and as far as dancing, no one can come close. And her writing, well Beyonce should hang out with MYA for a little bit and maybe something will rub off. I have heard a few tracks so far from MYA, but at this point she has done so many tracks and the ones that got leaked are getting pulled and she used other songs that didnt get leaked, and the leaked ones will go on a Bonus Disc and on the Import Versions, so at this point all i know is that she is mixing alot of Rock and Rb, but not "slick" RB, instrument playing RB like it used to be. The many looks of MYA for the new CD "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

She has a good voice but the music is typical bland modern R&B. Those legs are immense though.

With the last CD "Moodring" i dont think there was anything that could be called "modern rb" with the exception of maybe "WoaH" but tracks like "Fallen" "Whatever Bitch" and a few others couldnt get RB play because RB said it was too POP/ROCK and POP/ROCK said it was too RB, so MYA really doesnt have a category, and with this record she will be ignored once again, which actually is good! And yeah her Legs are immense, its the dancer build that she has, easily the best dancer out there. Wow if u dislike Mya's music i hope u arent going to say U like Beyonc, Christina or Nelly F or one of those horrid "mainstream" artists Beyonce I felt the same way about Christina Aguilera's first album. She was cute and she could sing and I even went so far as to buy the album, but after awhile I relaized I was just fooling myself and couldn't stand listening to it. The CD immediately got sold on ebay. However, I did like 'Stripped' even though it was a few songs too long. And Nelly Furtado's first two albums had a lot more personality and individuality than any of Mya's records.

And Nelly Furtado's first two albums had a lot more personality and individuality than any of Mya's records. Well i do agree that Nellys first two CD's had diversity, but with the new one she "sold" herself out to producers and the mainstream, though the cd has 2 or 3 good songs which are "her" the rest of it is just typical. I think MYA with Moodring her last cd she just totally shut the door on mainstream, it was her "if u dont like it, tough " record. With Mya and also someone like Aaliyah i knew i was going to get something different. With artists like Beyonce and even Christina, though i like Christina, she is going right back to "mainstream" with this new record, though its called Back to Basics, it should be called "Back to mainstream". Stripped was a really good record, but if you are thinking this new Christina record is even stronger, u will be very disappointed in it, as i was with the New nelly Furtado. Mya to me embraces what came before her, artists she respects like prince, Michael,Janet, Madonna, and she uses those artists diversity in her work, and most importantly when she does she doesnt say "Shes breaking new boundaries" which todays artists, Justin, Beyonce, Christina all say they are. Ever since she did the hook on "Ghetto Supastar" I have loved her voice.
Here is what she has been up to lately: After a label change to Motown Records, Mýa is currently finishing her fourth album Liberation, which is scheduled to be released October 24. The new LP involves production by Tricky Stewart, Jonathan Rotem, and Kwame, and include guest MCs Lil Wayne, Penelope Jones, and The GAME. The Scott Storch lead single, "Lock You Down", is expected to hit radio on August 1. It has been reported that "Ayo" has gone to radio so this probably will probably be Mya's 1st single. Mya shot her album cover last Friday. Photographer Warwick Saint took the pictures. Mya said that this is her most "personal" album yet. She is also going on tour to promote her album. There are a few very different looks-nothing at all like her previous albums covers. Mýa is also said to be appearing on Method Man and Elephant Man's new albums. In 2005, she signed a six figure deal with Ford Models. She is also said to be working on creating her own clothing line which will debut in 2008. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mýa
