What is the point of being in a girl group?

Seriously, they usually end up splitting up over some drama and 1 of them out shines the rest (ahem, Diana Ross and Bouncy), so they get big heeaded and leave. What is the point?

Does Diddy's group stand a chance out there? Even the Pussycat Dolls are almost finished after 1 album.

I suppose it does but not as much as with boy groups. Boy groups tend to stay together longer and you hear less drama.

It's hard for just women in general to maintain group social circles becuase women are "taught" to compete with their female counterpart. Men are too, but it's more acceptable for men since men have been competing in all aspects of life longer than women have. Most women haven't mastered that "It's cool, we're still friends" mode when they have a fallout while men can do the shit damn near everytime they play ball together.

Hell, even the longest running female group of all time (with its original members) almost called it an end due to jealousy, and then ONLY by death did it end - TLC.

Left Eye wanted more shine than she was getting and more involvement in the songs/music, that's why she went to Deathrow and became Supernova.

Lisa was angry because her songs was rejected for the Fanmail album and the politics that was controling the direction of TLC.

And she wanted more shine. She even went as far as to challenge them to an "album-off" to prove who would get more shine and sale the most records.

and wasn't the lead singer and one of the other girls from a group called Eden's Crush or something?

the Go~Go's (most successful all female band ever), split after three albums. Belinda went solo with a huge solo career. they got back together around 1990 and have been performing together ever since. they at east admit their faults but realize that they also belong together. and they are making more money now, then they were in the peak of their career.

and recently the Spice Girls couldn't even come to an agreement to regroup or release their greaest hits. lol blame Mel B./Geri..whatever.... they seriously fucked up.

Beyoncé was never really in a group. we all know the 'other girls' were meant to beher back up and it was sooooo obvious. lol

as far as Diddy's girl group...umm probably over before it starts. shrug

That reminds me (and soon to be a thread in itself:

It's been reported that PCD leader Nicole Scherzinger has written 12 new songs (YES, 12!!!) for the next follow-up album with the group.

Beside Nicole, Melody Thornton is also planning to go solo in the near future.

Nicole was a former member of Edna's Crush (and THE only former member to stay in the music industry).

BTW, ANY boy or girl group created by Diddy will not last pass the first album!

To tell you the truth, I doubt it if they'll ever release an album knowing damn good and well that PCD will destory them on the Hot 100 Singles Charts.

That's true. There's some serious drama in Van Halen. Gotta love good ol' diamond Dave!
