If you dig DONNY HATHAWAY ... ... then you might wanna check Frank McComb .
Dude almost inherited Donny's voice . 
This cat was part of Buckshot LeFonque , a group formed by saxophonist Branford Marsalis . Frank sang lead on their track Another Day , which got some exposure . 
He's pictured on the far left . Before his solo-career , Frank also recorded some songs for the Meteor Man-soundtrack in 1994 . 
The next year , he recorded an album for Motown , which was eventually shelved . 
It kept dwelling in the underground-scene though . It contains great work , including his version of Stevie Wonder's Golden Lady . He worked along on Brigette McWilliams her second album . It's a spherish and good album , and it features Frank's composition Action Speaks Louder Than Words , which he recorded again on his Malibu Sessions-album . 
Frank performed on more tracks there , along with writer/bassist Bobby Watson from the Rufus/Chaka-fame , and Lalomie Washburn who had also worked with Rufus & Chaka and other class acts from the 70's , besides her solo-work . Finally , an offical album came out on Columbia . 
Although it contains much solid tracks , it didn't give him the recognition he should deserve , with an exception of the UK , where the brother is much respected and sells out whenever he plays there . His third album was released by the UK-Label Expansion . He took that decision because of the recognition he received across the ocean . 
His most recent work has been released under his own management . No more big label-work . I'll tell ya , this album is pure class , with a mixture of vocal and infectious soul-jazz grooves . Worth to check . 
Unfortunately , because of his own release-business , there's at this moment few documented footage . Man , this talent sangs AND plays some serious jazzvibe on the piano . I hope a live-DVD eventually will appear :  Wedding Song ( 2000 ) - Live @ Pizza Express Jazz , Soho , London

Ndeed, 100MPH!! Frank McComb is the MF'n Man!! Psykosoul and I have done a couple 'o threads on him in the past.... He's got Donny and Stevie's 70's feel, both on vocals and keyboards/synths! If you remember, when Prince got his NAACP Image Award a few years ago, Frank McComb was up there with him playing keyboards, and he got some solo vocal room on Curtis Mayfield's "Movin' On Up"....apparently, Prince is a Big Frank McComb Fan and has him come around and play when he's in town.... ... I almost was gonna post here , after a second attempt , if any soul-kats or kittens were hip to his work . Great anecdote Pali ! That's a cool insider . Thanx 4 that . I've seen Frank also jam along with Maze & Frankie Beverly . Met him once and that was cool . Great dude , who takes all the time for his fans . ...BTW, While we're on the subject, props also to Steve "The Scotsman" Harvey who produced McCombs last two albums, and has produced and/or played on these albums:     
he's also got his own project, featuring artists like Donnie, D'ambi, Rashaan Patterson, and Ledisi on vocals.... 
What I love about Steve is that he's got the sense to take artists like Frank McComb and Donnie, and Brigette McWilliams (whose mother, Paulette McWilliams, was the original lead vocalist for Rufus, pre-Chaka Khan), and pair them with all those great musicians of the 70's and 80's. The musicians playing on all these albums include: The late Billy Preston, Al McKay (EWF), Paulinho Da Costa, Tony Maiden and Bobby Watson(Rufus) and Larry Dunn(EWF)...he loves that original feel: live drums, horns, analog keys , and the like, and gets the greats together with the newer soul artists to really capture that sound... ...
