In my opinion Robbie did benefit a lot from his former songwriter, Guy Chambers.
Since he dumped him his music has detoriated. I mean: Sin, Sin, Sin was a very mediocre single also. Robbie has achieved a lot (in Europe at least) by his brutality, irony and charisma, but he seems to forget that he needs good songs also. By the way: i still consider it a shame that people like his song 'she's the one' so much, while the creator of that song, the painfully forgotten Karl Wallinger (aka World Party) has created a much starker version of that song. By the way, Guy Chambers, was originally playing for Karl Wallinger. He did took a lot of elements from World Party's music, and made hits for Robbie from it. At the same time Karl Wallinger seems to be forgotten.. strange world...

I love the original 'She's The One' - don't think much of Robbie's version.

Robbie Williams is crap, as an Englishman I'm ashamed he's currently our biggest pop star, because the man is at best an avaerage talent and he just got lucky and became very popular with his bland pub/bar/elevator music.

He's definitely biggest for concert ticket sales, but he hasn't had a #1 single in 2 years and the last one failed to make the Top 20.

Who do you think should be UK biggest pop star then?
You may not like pop but he's very good at what he does, IMO. I see him as a 30 years younger Elton John. Bet you don't like him either That's OK. I don't like Stravinsky but won't say he was crap

Who gives a fuck about singles these days? It's the album sales that count and in the UK and Europe they're still stratospheric. Sadly.

I have a couple of songs on my iPod and I might stop to watch him perform live on TV. I get the appeal, but I just don't get the stratospheric success here and the complete dominance he's had in the last decade. I guess it's the same for Eminem in the US. It's not that they're bad, but I don't see them as great.

It's not that they're bad, but I don't see them as great. Eminem was great for a couple of years. The Marshall Mathers LP was phenomenal. Seriously clever stuff with a lot of humour and deep feeling. That's something you don't get in 21st century hip hop; deep feeling. Of course, the fact that he was white certainly didn't hurt his sales, but he actually genuinely had something to offer hip hop too.

i heard in a recent interview that he doesn't actually enjoy being in music. it shows. he should try comedy, like he says he wants to.
let us real musicians have a go. . [Edited 7/29/06 4:53am]

Michael Jackson's 2000 Watts is a cool song. I hope he sings it live on his next tour.

I don't like Stravinsky but won't say he was crap It depends how you define pop music, as pop music is such a broad. I like some of Elton John's songs, mainly 1970's songs like Rocket Man and Benny & The Jets, but Elton John is musically an very talent even though I'm not a fan of his. I don't see Robbie Williams as a younger version of Elton John, he's just some guy with average talent and a lot of energy that got lucky. I will say that Robbie Williams has made a couple of good songs like Feel, Let Love Be Your Energy (a cool video) and Love Supreme (a cool video), but really this man is far more popular that he should be because it's on an iconic scale in the UK. I have no idea who should be the UK's biggest pop star of the momment because there aren't really any major solo artist in the UK now. It's all bands and Robbie Williams doesn't have any competition as the bland Craig David is now a fading star.

Michael Jackson's 2000 Watts is a cool song. I hope he sings it live on his next tour. I once saw on a TV show here in portugal a bunch of kids dancing to it! it was a awesome choreography

He surely doesnt mention Sodomy in a radio edit...does he? Thats as bad as mentioning 'Masturbating' . Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

At least I guess now we know why LT announced his retirement from the music industry recently.. Yeah, I just heard he was covering Lewis Taylor's "Lovelight" for the second single...I'm not sure what to think.... Glad for Lewis (he's gonna make some revenue), but at the same time scared that Robbie might F*ck it up!! ...
