as a huge fan since 1982 I hope the new cd is better than their last one 'Astronaut' ...so much filler.....I hope they dont end up like the rolling stones making crappy cds just to promote a greatest hits tour every few years

I thought there were at least 4 strong cuts on "Astronaut." The title track, Sunrise, What Happens Tomorrow and my absolute fave, "Want You More." That was a fucking jam.

I like most of Duran Duran's albums, except the covers album which someone mentioned which was truly horrible. Astronaut was a good album, which deserved more success.
The only thing is Duran Duran's albums tend to all sound the same and not be that groundbreaking musically. They could sort of step outside of their comfort zone more often. But if you like the typical Duran Duran sound and don't expect anything earthshattering, you will like most of their albums. They are very consistently good in what they do.

It's funny how long Astronaut stayed in production. I remember they'd play demo loops of it on their site back in 2001. I loved the one for "Nice", as silly as it sounded, and three or four years later when the album finally dropped, I got to hear it.

Nothing like the loop, tons more layers, and much more satisfying, but part of me will always wonder what it would've sounded like had the album just come out in summer 2001 as was originally estimated..
