PS--if Warner or Madonna cared about U.S. radio airplay they would have released the most generic, crossover hit potential single on the album--"Push." I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Why go for it again. It makes no sense. I thought bring an artist was all about being different from your peers. I never actually liked that album, i know many did. There was good songs on it but i think they may have been better suited for other artists. But yeah, that was Madonna's "please play me on the radio" album. Dallas Austin and Babyface were used as the chief producers for two big radio hits...more like TLC and Whitney. I think "Erotica" influenced the "janet." and "Velvet Rope" records for real tho. From the minute I heard COADF leak I knew it would get little or no radio play in the U.S. It's in the vein of Kylie/Cher/Dannii/Anastacia, moreso than anything she's ever done before (even though they've all really been rip offs of her) and that shit NEVER took off on our continent. NEVER. True Dance pop is only big in Europe and Japan. I think it was kind of a "fuck you" to the U.S. market, honestly, after "American Life." "Reinvention Tour" was damage control, "COADF" was "Im still gonna chart and sell all over the world and fuck America if they don't catch on." Are we forgetting that she did next to NO promo for the album over here? Her first and only big push was the Grammys, and that wasn't until the record had been out for months, and she didn't even sing her single ("sorry.") So wtf does everyone expect? PLUS she's 47 and a mother of two and has alienated a lot of the maistream with Kabballah and living on the English Manor? Queens...please. I love that bitc h but starting with "Die Another Day" it was clear she was not going to rule radio in the 00s the way she did in the 80s and 90s. Still it's better Madonna that boriah scary!

Couldn't agree more about "Push" as a single although "Jump" is very much the kind of pop song that radio might embrace ("Hung Up" was the most accessible of all and a perfect first single).

I'm deadass serious. Look, even Stevie Wonder can see that Janet & Madonna basically SWITCH musical character roles on everyone since 1991.

The point is Madonna & Janet would copy each other concepts....sometimes. For the RN video, Janet wore a military uniform. For the American Life video, Madonna wore a military uniform. Madonna gets a little explict with Erotica. Janet gets a little explict with The Velvet Rope. Janet goes mid-tempo r&b with janet.(excluding If & Throb). 1st single: That's The Way Love Goes Madonna goes mid-tempo r&b with Bedtime Stories. 1st single: Secrets [Edited 7/23/06 20:22pm]
