I know I'll be buying it as soon as it hits stores, but this is disheartening.

Please Janet, no more aural porn a'la "Would You Mind" or "Warmth". "Anytime, Anyplace" was all you ever needed to say on the subject. Nothing will ever top that song.

i agree... also... janet is being stubborn.... she needs to stop talking so much about sex... if thats all she can talk about then something's wrong cause she is 40 years old and theres more to life than that... and that is the least important thing in the world

It's not that she needs to stop talking about sex but when the albums just have more and more sex songs and less and less of an identity...."All For You" felt like a breakup album, even with the chunk of sort of useless (but OK) sex songs thrown in,,,,what the fuck was DJ about? Nothing!

I'm with you. At least with All For You there was a theme. I can even take her interludes, but Damita Jo was just vapid even the interludes had me going, "what the hell is she talking about-- '...humidity".. of course I like music..."

I need her to go do some movies, get away for a while, read some books, explore life because there has to be more. I refuse to believe there is nothing else in a 40 year old woman's life but sex. Not even sensuality- just plain raunch.

But, I will be there to support, hoping for the best. And I still want her to keep it real and remember the first 2 albums.

"Young Love", "Say You Do", "Fast Girls", "Don't Stand Another Chance-" come on J J, keep it funky! You know what time it is.

I don't go by that theory since "Control" is probably her best album. And the "All For You" tour, while overlong, was still a great show without him. And "Damita Jo" had some great songs without him...

No, she's just been a space cadet since the divorce. She's on some sort of antidepressant, I'm sure.

It seems like Rene was more in tune with what the typical Janet fan would have liked to hear from her. Now that he's gone, Janet might have lost that link to the consumer.

Sounds like some other artist I know. hmmm

I was talking about the showmanship, costumes, choreography, band, dancers, entertainment value...the one show I REALLY want to see up close and personal is
RN tour...So jealous of those who saw that and her "Control" and "Rhythm Nation" songs as full length and not crammed into minute long portions of medleys...

Apparently she came to Edmonton, Alberta with the RN tour and I missed it (grade 3). I didn't even know until I saw someone with a concert shirt at school - I was so jealous!

I saw that tour in college. She had a live panther or something onstage for "Black Cat". I read that the cat didn't do the entire tour. It was becoming unmanageable.

Actually, she dropped it because animal rights activists were concerned with its treatment and the effect moving all the time would have on its health.

I read somewhere that the panther peed on stage and Janet (or one of the dancers, can't remember now) slipped in it and fell. As the story seemed really absurd, it always stuck with me.

well, it was pretty much the same show she's been doing the last decade.

lol

just kidding...if i remember correctly the stage set-up was the same as in Black Cat. she made her concert intro via an elevator in the middle of the stage...the stage itself was pretty minimal (which i liked)...it was a very basic low effects/heavy on the dancing affair. the outfits were simple 1814 black/white inspired...nothing glam, but it worked for her. I remember them showing the Come Back To Me video while she did a costume change...

and i remember my friends and i doing the entire choreography to Escapade at one point and everyone in our section clapping and watching us...

oh lord, how embarassing...

Damita Jo was a love album.

i didnt get that theme from the songs she had on Damita jo... like All night, just a lil while, Damita jo, sexhibition werent about love... the slow songs on DJ were so boring... and those were the worst songs... i like her dance songs the best...cause its like she has to get all graphic in her slow songs... im starting to not like her as much... cause after hearing how she slept with matthew Mck... what ever his name is and justin timberlake... who else did she sleep with... why should i support someone that does that kind of stuff when i AM 100% against that....

also was rene even around when janet did control... jimmy said he was not in the studio when they wrote and created those songs... so stop giving that loser for a man... any credit for janets career...

Damn, that's a lot more than what I remember! That's why I began writing concert reviews for myself this year. Of the hundreds of shows I've seen, I have no recollection of some of them.

Could've fooled me. Yeah, a lot of songs where about love but others....dare I say some of the stronger ones, show or could've shown a different part of personality. They were some real forceful, cool pop songs like "All Nite", "Like You Don't Love Me" and "Sexhibition"...and sadly, the sexy "Put Your Hands On" was taken off. I think it could've been a stronger album had it not tried to be R&B....now this one will try to go for the Clear Channel jugular rather than the kind of dance record that fans have been wanting for years!
