Melanie Safka...Brand New Key. i just realised how much i love this song. superb. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Is she similar to Joni Mitchell? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! No WAY! I LOVE Melanie! I was just going to start a Melanie thread this week in fact.
You should check out... She's got one of those voices that you either love or hate. It's sounds like what you'd get of you morphed Edith Piaf with Cyndi Lauper. She does some great covers of "Lay Lady Lay", "Mr. Tambourine Man", and "Ruby Tuesday". She's still performing these days and has put out a ton of albums over the years. I only have her early stuff though, so I can't say what she sounds like now. I'd love to see her live someday though. Is this the 'I've got a brand new pair of rollerskates' song? Does she also sing the song about wanting to marry a lighthouse keeper? The Hottest chip of them all - www.hotchip.co.uk - Get down with Prince

for whatever reason I lump her in the same category as the chick who did 'Midnight at the Oasis' - Maria Muldaur. And I love them both! | |
