This is some of the Miles stuff I didn't fully "get",at first,but now it done been "got' by me.This is some of the freakiest and funkiest whatever in the musical universe!I gotta spring for the Cellar Door Sessions now,which is really gonna set a brovva back! Live Evil has the ugliest and scariest artwork I can remember.the music is sorta' ugly,too,but it's "good ugly".This music is from somewhere else!Somewhere deep down and not "normal'.It is mesmerizing and fantastic!It makes my mouth water for corn beef and grits and I don't even eat like that!!(I will tear up some grits,though!) Now,then,you throw on this "John" track..the bass just barely speaks,but it says volumes,ya' know? It goes on and on for weeks then,you get this damn maddeningly crazy and memorable John Mclaughlin guitar solo. It's all aciddy and trippy and still sooo cool.

Oh,I forgot to mention Dark Magus.Another cd that comes from the bowels of some large wet subterrainian cavern.Again,the playing is tight and funky. But it's like somebody painted a nice watercolor picture with brights and pastels then,ol' Miles comes along and throws gallons of blacks,dark blues,crimson,and puke green on the pretty picture.You dig it,but you feel like you almost need a shower for doing so.It makes my neck snap and my lip do the Billy Idol.Yet,all the while,I feel more honest with myself and smarter than most for allowing myself the pleasure of experiencing this surely sinful musical dubeage.
