I can only hope we get a DVD out of it. You're welcome. And ain't that the truth regarding a DVD. It's my birthday that night, however, I am being treated to the Reverend Al Green at the Paramount Theater in Oakland. Booker T is opening that show. But still, I kind of wish I was going to see the Dan, since I saw Al last summer and I have never seen SD. I checked ticket availability a few days ago and there were great seats available if you only want to buy a single. Thanks for the review tA. I hear ya. Never saw them before either. Just couldn't take a chance on missing them and then finding out that this was it. Btw, Walter Becker has one of the sweetest sounding Strats every. Crystal clear, clean, round, fat, singing sound. The Bogner/Mesa/Top Hat amps don't hurt either. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 I didn't but tickets to the show because of the venue, but if you are close its not that bad, I guess. I am kicking myself now. Hopefully I will get another chance, but I don't know. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on | |

And I'm jealous too. Sounds like it was a great show. Thanks for the review. I would have had to run back into the venue though if I heard "FM" during the encore. It's one of my favorites. It was tempting to stay for the encore but I had the fear of traffic in me. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. In absentia, so I popped in a bootleg from 96. Fagen's vocals have always been annoying; even more so live. I hope they had the femme bkgrnd singers to smooth things out. They skipped "Aja" on my bootleg and that just ain't right! Wondered if they'd slip Mike back in for some numbers. That sounded like a good time, but expensive and too much traffic for a mid-week nite out. Funny, on my bootleg I hear a metronome "tick tick tick tick..." in between tracks. They're very precise, eh? He "sings" with much more confidence these days given his shortcomings in that area. And the ladies do smooth things out. MM's additional voice took things up a notch. Didn't notice Carlock with any additional headgear but I could've been fooled by some tiny in-ears. What I have seen a few drummers use is a hand held metronome with the exact bpms for each tune preprogrammed to establish tempos for count offs. The grooves were on and the band was tight. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Michael McDonald must've come on between 7:30-7:45 and off at 8:45. Steely Dan was on at around 9:15 till some time after 11:00. All his solo Pop tunes, including Sweet Freedom, sounded much more ballsy live. (now clean up that vomit ) Great performances by both acts. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 7/21/06 18:18pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. nice detailed review of the show, TA..
I'm still looking forward to seeing Donald & Walter in Bristol VA on August 13, but I'm a little surprised about the setlist.. it makes sense that Michael McDonald would come on after the intermission, but I wonder how it happened (maybe they all agreed to it?) that MMcD doesn't sing on 'time out of mind', 'I got the news' or (even) 'black friday'.. songs with which MMcD is associated (ESPECIALLY 'time out of mind) 'cousin dupree'??? that's 1 of the VERY FEW Dan songs I don't like.. eh, if they're playing only 1 song from 2vN, it CLEARLY needs to be JANIE RUNAWAY. & NOTHING from PRETZEL LOGIC?? wow. I'm sure (or at least I'm hoping) that Donald & Walter are changing up the setlist a little on each show.. also, I wonder why nothing from Fagen's SCRUFFY THE CAT is on the setlist.. not that anything would have to be, but I know that sometimes in the past DF has played a few of his songs in the shows.. eh, I need to calm down & simply appreciate their usual PURE MUSICAL GENIUS, as infrequently as they tour.. the MMcD setlist looks good.. looks like he will play everyting I want to hear! yeah.. I plan to get there REAL EARLY, to make sure I get my STEELY DAN T-SHIRT..! I'll see you tonight..

eh, if they're playing only 1 song from 2vN, it CLEARLY needs to be JANIE RUNAWAY.
