Jam Of The Day: "Live It Up" by The Isley Brothers

This jam is one of my favorites from the Isley Brothers. This is long before they sold out and they could throwdown.

Love them. Love the song. Looooove the album. Not a single bad song on it. Their classic take on Rundgren's Hello It's Me, Ain't I Been Good to You is funky for days, and two other great funk ballads, Brown Eyed Girl and Lover's Eve.

Good pick! thumbs up!

No secret that I adore the Isley Bros. This is one of my fave albums by them. "Ain't I Been Good To You" is some of Ernie Isley's best playing. His lead guitar work on this is through the roof. Also the title track is indeed bangin'. STILL play these cuts in my ride. Their version of Todd's "Hello, It's Me" is better than the o.g, I think.

I haven't watched one of those Soul Train dance things in a looong time! It's amazing how nearly every couple has their own unique thing, and many are doing something complimentary to one another.

God the Isley's are criminally underrated! I mean they're popular, but they should be mentioned with the ALLLL time greats.

Ernie is shreddin' on "Live It Up". What a great song and the Soul Train clip is awesome. "Midnight Sky" is another tour-de-force by Ernie. He definately kept the Jimi flame burning on that cut. Octavia Fuzz Face and all.

I really dig "Need A Little Taste of Love". Ernie's playing is on point (always is).
