She got that jazz thing going on too, thats why I can fuck with her. I knew about it all along, and then she said in one interview that she learned most of her vocal tricks from BETTY CARTER.

Come 2 think of it, she does echo Betty Carter in Love Can't Hide's bridge music

Now ain't that something? lol

That's funny. Whenever I hear her sing, I hear nothing but gospel's Clark sisters. hmm

She's a great singer, though. Hope she comes back strong.

Yes, because Karen Clark is (or one of) her favorite singers. biggrin

I thought they'd been @ odds w/ each other since the beginning (when people used to mistake "Used to Love Me" for a Mary song)... shrug

well if mary j blige was able to do a whole fucken album with diddy again over 3 years ago, perhaps there would have been opportunities for these two ladies.

Does she really though? confused I'll admit to thinking that was a Mary song when she first dropped but to me they're both just singing shrug

It was intentional. After Puff and Mary had their falling out, he was trying to mold Faith in the same image as Mary. Faith has a good voice, I just don't like her songs.

I liked Faith's debut album quite a bit. Since then I've only kept up with the singles. I really like the 3 singles from Keep the Faith, "Again" from the last album, and her songs on the soundtracks for Waiting to Exhale and High School High. Oh, I forgot her duet with Carl Thomas. Love that one!

Yeah, but it's called "Can't Believe." Then again, it seems to be called "Emotional (Remix)" by a lot of people. The name of that song confuses me... neutral

Thats true!

She is a Clarke Sisters closet freak(check out the BG vox) but when she switches up to jazz,,,,you know its Betty Carter & Lady Day she listens to.

This is the person who Faith basically learned how to sing from (she's said this herself in numerous interviews).

And how does that make Faith's any less real than hers?

It's something called "Anointing."

Pretty deep discussion that would take up a lot of time. I'm willing if you are. wink

If you are talking about being moved and touched by the spirit I am well aware of it wink Now that still doesn't mean that Faith isn't giving a real performance! lol

Yeah, it was a real performance alright...a real bad one. lol

Again, I personally wasn't moved by it. It did nothing for me because I've heard Faith perform a lot better than this.

Either that or she "punted."

The Clarke sisters are no joke. Faith's been stealin' runs from them for years.

I need to get schooled on them quickly! I'm listening to Xscape and I think "Is My Living In Vain" is a Clarke Sisters remake.

It is. Xscape can't even touch The Clark Sisters original! Just check out this live performance of them HERE

They're the premier vocalists responsible for influencing Missy Elliott, Kelly Price, Whiteney Houston, Mariah Carey, Tweet, Beyonce, Lil' Mo, Faith Evans, Fantasia and a host of other female R&B vocalists.
