A Stephanie Mills appreciation thread.

Beautiful voice. A great song for boudoir sessions is "I Just Wanna Say"

And of course her version of hcudcm was great.

Another great CD to enjoy is "First Take" by Roberta Flack

Stephanie is one of my favorite R&B female vocalists EVER, her voice is so powerful. She sings with a sincere sense of urgency and SOUL. She'd sing circles around 95% of these female singers now-a-days...NO DOUBT!!!

***What Cha Gonna Do With My Loving?...Breakthough hit for Stephanie. This song stills sound good.

***Put Your Body In It...Stephanie could handle a wide range of material. This uptemps song is serious dance floor music. Now Reggie Lucas was producing her {he would go on to produce Madonna's debut record}Also from the album "WHAT CHA GONNA DO WITH MY LOVIN"???album.

***Sweet Sensation...Another great gem from Stephanie. I love the way Stephanie toyed around the word sweet at the end of the song. Great vocal skills displayed on this one.
{Around this time she married Jeffrey Daniels and it was rumored that she had "a thing" for MJ}.

***Never Knew Love Like This Before...This was one of her biggest hits, yet I never really liked this as better as I liked her other tunes. But it's a good song.

***Two Hearts featuring Teddy Pendergrass...After "Sweet Sensation", this is probably my favorite Stephanie Mills song. I really thought these two artists would be the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell of the 80's. This song is stellar. I remember this one burnng up the R&B airwaves in the summer of 1981. I love the way her and Teddy hum together right before the second verse. Classic stuff. I was jamming this song the other day.

***Last Night

***Keep Away Girls

***How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore...LIL MAN's song had that gospel bluesy feel to it. So it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Stephanie(with her firm roots in gospel)would rip this song to pieces. And that's exactly what she did.

***The Medicine Song

***I Learned To Respect The Power Of Love...Another stellar Stephanie vocal performance.

***You're Puttin A Rush On Me

***I Feel Good All Over...And yet ANOTHER superior vocal performance from Stephanie.

***Something In The Way You Make Me Feel...Great track produced by Angela Winbush {Angela was hot as a producer around this time.

***Comfort Of A Man...I just get chills up and down my spine listening to her sing this.

***Home- The title track to her MCA album called HOME is a huge over the top performance. A vocal tour de force for Stephanie.

And her gospel album called PERSONAL INSPIRATIONS is good too. My goodness, a voice like her is missed solely now-a-days.

Yeah, you got to remember, before the plastic surgery, the sistas loved Mike. I remember about every girl I knew in my neighborhood had pictures of him on their wall. They loved him.

It was reported that members of Sister Sledge were following the Jacksons around the hotel the two groups were staying in durng the The Jacksons Destiny tour in early 1979(Sister Sledge opened up for the Jacksons on this tour)

That's my favourite Stephanie Mills song. I would love to see Prince cover it.

"Once I was lost and now I’m found
Then you turned my world around
When I need you, I call your name

‘Cause I never knew love like this before
Opened my eyes
‘Cause I never knew love like this before
What a surprise

‘Cause I never knew love like this before"

wink
