Janet is a big girl. She knew exactly what she was doing with the Super Bowl boob thing. It was an immature publicity stunt that completely backfired on her. America is too Puritanical. Blah. Blah. Blah.

Even so, I just can't believe how personally some of you take this stuff. This shrill, obsessive catty behavior directed towards Justin is absurd. Henry Rollins never fails to make a disparaging remark about Bono, but I can't imagine spewing so much vitriol every single time his name was brought up on a message board.

However, does anyone here other than the Janet obsessives remember the video for 'Just a Little While'? It was cheap, it was rushed, and it didn't seem like Janet had her heart in it at all. The song wasn't a hit. Why would MTV waste their time playing it? They certainly didn't waste their time on 'American Life' or 'Love Profusion'.

After the first single or two from these albums, MTV isn't really playing them anyway. I haven't seen 'Get Together' on MTV yet, nor did I see 'Sorry', but I did see a lot of 'Hung Up'. .I didn't see 'Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own' or 'City of Blinding Lights' on MTV, and 'Vertigo' was a huge hit. Damita Jo didn't have a 'Hung Up' or a 'Vertigo', so I can understand why the subsequent videos didn't get airtime.

I guess, with big acts such as Madonnna, U2 and Janet, it's all about hype. 'Hung Up' and 'Vertigo' got a shitload of MTV and radio play partly because of the hype that there new singles had come out. Janet's new single, while not great, has nonetheless been getting some support from radio(it rose up to #60 last week). The video isnt out yet, so whether MTV will give it the same asskissing as they did to Madonna or U2 is not known.

Besides,I dont think I can agree that MTV has always kissed Madonnas ass. They gave the horrendous 'American Life' video(the one with the flags) little play, they hardly played 'Hollywood' and they didnt even bother with 'Love Profusion'. I can say, though, that they did give Janet a rougher time with Damito Jo.

BTW, I agree that MTV hasn't always kissed Madonna's ass. The American Life-era is a perfect example of that; the only time I ever saw any of the videos from that album was on VH1, and they were only on there for a brief period. However, Madonna wormed her way back onto the MTV playlists, and I'm sure that Janet will do the same.

Justin could release an album of yodelling and it would be hyped on a massive scale, because kids are interested in him. I just asked a question and backed it up with actual quotes from Blender magazine who talked with higher ups in Viacom...I have no doubt that if the Superbowl incident had not have happened we would not be here discussing Janet not getting the support that MTV once showed her... most people here seem to dismiss the fact that there was 2 involved in the incident... one gets a free pass and the other is punished...
I don't give a fuck if you like her or not or feel that her talent warrants MTV supporting her.... But i think its safe to say that MTV non support has nothing to do with her music.
