And no, it would NOT be the same thing if he'd whipped out his cock. Janet's a woman and she's black. Hasn't Madonna taught you ANYTHING????? Yup take responiblity for your actions. Once again... Janet and Janet alone made the final decison that day on what to wear. I believe Justin knew that was going to happen. But Janet is a big girl... if she wanted to reveal her breast on National TV she needs to be a big enough girl to handle the outcome. Just like I know when I go to Palm Springs Pride and if i want to particpate in the Pride Parade I should make sure my ass is covered or else i'm going to jail. Seriously. A friend of mine last year got arrested and spent the night in jail for doing it. He isn't claiming he was wronged he just made a bad choice. Did she not assumed responsibilty for the whole incident ??... and if you remember the day after when Justin was questioned about the Incident his response was "you know we had to give you something to talk about" it was only after shit starting getting real bad that he bailed on her

Janet is a big girl. She knew exactly what she was doing with the Super Bowl boob thing. It was an immature publicity stunt that completely backfired on her. America is too Puritanical. Blah. Blah. Blah.
Even so, I just can't believe how personally some of you take this stuff. This shrill, obsessive catty behavior directed towards Justin is absurd. Henry Rollins never fails to make a disparaging remark about Bono, but I can't imagine spewing so much vitriol every single time his name was brought up on a message board. However, does anyone here other than the Janet obsessives remember the video for 'Just a Little While'? It was cheap, it was rushed, and it didn't seem like Janet had her heart in it at all. The song wasn't a hit. Why would MTV waste their time playing it? They certainly didn't waste their time on 'American Life' or 'Love Profusion'. After the first single or two from these albums, MTV isn't really playing them anyway. I haven't seen 'Get Together' on MTV yet, nor did I see 'Sorry', but I did see a lot of 'Hung Up'. .I didn't see 'Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own' or 'City of Blinding Lights' on MTV, and 'Vertigo' was a huge hit. Damita Jo didn't have a 'Hung Up' or a 'Vertigo', so I can understand why the subsequent videos didn't get airtime. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

At least I remember seeing it alot on MTV and seeing it hit no.1 on TRL. Radio just didnt give it enough support. 'Get Together', however, has received minimal to no support from either radio OR MTV. As for U2, MTV did play the heck out of 'Vertigo', and then failed to play the next 2 videos. I do, however, recall seeing the albums final video, 'Original of the Species', getting some decent airplay on MTV. However, that didnt translate to radio support. I guess, with big acts such as Madonnna, U2 and Janet, it's all about hype. 'Hung Up' and 'Vertigo' got a shitload of MTV and radio play partly because of the hype that there new singles had come out. Janet's new single, while not great, has nonetheless been getting some support from radio(it rose up to #60 last week). The video isnt out yet, so whether MTV will give it the same asskissing as they did to Madonna or U2 is not known. Besides,I dont think I can agree that MTV has always kissed Madonnas ass. They gave the horrendous 'American Life' video(the one with the flags) little play, they hardly played 'Hollywood' and they didnt even bother with 'Love Profusion'. I can say, though, that they did give Janet a rougher time with Damito Jo.

I think that part of the problem is that neither Damita Jo nor this new Janet CD has had an "event" single the way "Vertigo", "Hung Up", or even "All For You" was. Even if the first release was a great midtempo song with a little direction a'la "Got Til It's Gone" or "That's the Way Love Goes", I can see the force of the song demanding video play. However, neither "Just a Little While" nor "I Want You" (and especially not "Call on Me") demanded a video. None of them are ever going to be "career" records; they're just inoffensive songs designed to sound good while they're playing and be forgotten by the end of the month. BTW, I agree that MTV hasn't always kissed Madonna's ass. The American Life-era is a perfect example of that; the only time I ever saw any of the videos from that album was on VH1, and they were only on there for a brief period. However, Madonna wormed her way back onto the MTV playlists, and I'm sure that Janet will do the same. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Janet is at a point in her career when she can't be expected to get the automatic frenzy of interest Justin can. Justin could release an album of yodelling and it would be hyped on a massive scale, because kids are interested in him. That doesn't mean she can't still get it, just that she'll have to either be a bit better or a bit more cynical and calculating to get it. Judging by the Nelly hook up (or even maybe her choice of boyfriend) it's clear she's going the cynical root. It'll probably work, but I repeat she's already had almost 2 decades of commercial success which is way more than her talent deserves. Y'all are just greedy. As for Madonna, she has carved out a place for herself in the industry that is completely unique. She's the exception that proves the rule. Name one other female artist who is regularly on MTV. Age is certainly a factor.

Age is certainly a factor. It has nothing with people being greedy.. I just asked a question and backed it up with actual quotes from Blender magazine who talked with higher ups in Viacom...I have no doubt that if the Superbowl incident had not have happened we would not be here discussing Janet not getting the support that MTV once showed her... most people here seem to dismiss the fact that there was 2 involved in the incident... one gets a free pass and the other is punished... I don't give a fuck if you like her or not or feel that her talent warrants MTV supporting her.... But i think its safe to say that MTV non support has nothing to do with her music.
