Digital Underground, Hammer, & Eazy-E has THE best lines on that classic!

He may get a lot of (deserved) flack, but how can you forget about Young MC? "Brothers... killing other brothers" is one of the most well known lines in the song. Doesn't he also say the "what's it all about if there's a future that shoots ya?" line in the long version?

"We're All in the Same Gang" is no "Self Destruction," but it was a good song in its own right.

No. Better video, but not better song.

I don't think the flack he got was deserved. His style was fun, clever and quick...he was a good rhymer. Wrote good songs for others, too.

Same Gang is better music.

Granted, East Coast always had better lyrics & rhyme skills. But the West Coast always had better music & beats: The Funk! wink

Yeah, I meant to say some of it was deserved. Most of his post-Stone Cold Rhymin' output is pretty lackluster.

I wouldn't even say the video is better (although I guess it's pretty close). "Self Destruction" is a much better song.

I used to think that "All in the Same Gang" was better musically and lyrically.
But not anymore.

First off,...lyrically,...there aint nuthin on anywhere on Same Gang that even matches the impact of Moe Dee's verse on Self-Destruction alone.
Second,...Humpty bites Heavy D's proving right/proving wrong line.
Third...Same Gang dont even have a chorus!!
Fourth,..Dr. Dre who produced Same Gang and some of the rappers who were on it,..built their careers on glamorizing and selling the "gangsta" image.
That song was straight phony.

Self-Destruction on the other hand was true consciousness....and it even had a chorus! smile

Third point is very false!!! Michel'le is singing the chorus line...alone.

Fourth point is somewhat false too! Dr.Dre produced both albums for JJ Fad. And they were push as a west coast miami bass girl group, not gangsta!!
