Billboard throws Justin's sexy... back SexyBack
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Producer(s): Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Danja Label: Publishers: various Jive Justin Timberlake claims he wants to push pop boundaries with upcoming second solo album "FutureSex/LoveSounds," but launch single "SexyBack" is more likely to jolt nerve endings. Yeah, we get it: Release an event single you know radio will embrace before getting to the meat of the matter, but really. This meandering melody-free jam is atrocious. Timberlake is unidentifiable with his grossly distorted vocal as Timbaland whoops and hollers alongside, in what is essentially a four-minute loop. Timberlake has a lot to offer—as a potential savior of solo male pop—but here he appears to tease, if not to ridicule, radio's lust/need for him. Impact: 10. Respect: less than zero. Chuck Taylor also wrote in Billboard that Pink's "Get The Party Started" was terrible and could possibly stall her promising career. At least he admits this time that the song will be a hit.  | |

Such a good review that hits it all right on the head. Justin claims to push boundaries and then releases a song that is SO SAFE and will get airplay and get people to jump on it because there is no challenge to the listener, and sorry to say, 90% or more of the music buying public want simple tunes from simple artists with no depth, in a way the industry and the artists coming out are a reflection of us more than them. I guess the song is at least good for a laugh. JT sounds like some effeminate, braggadocious Chippendale performer, with Tim playing the part of some pervert in the club capturing it all on film.

The "get your sexy on" lyric that Timb repeats over and over is so corny its embarrasing.
I like the concept of the distorted vocal...but it has no melody. Which might work ...if the song had a strong riff....but it doesnt have that either. Just a plain club beat with a stock techno line. And Timb sayin "get your sexy on" three times as fast. Justin man....what were you thinking? If he really wants to push the musical form of popular music...I suggest he go lock himself in a room with Sign O The Times, LoveSexy, and Purple Rain....and study!

Great points. When I heard that he said that he wants to change pop music with this, I laughed my ass off. Another foolish fool talking more shit than a bit. This shit ain't changing a damn thing. The song's sounds like everything that's been done before. Justin needs to go somewhere with that boolshit. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince.
