Thom Yorke - The Eraser

I noticed a while ago a topic about Thom Yorke's new solo album, but now it's officially in stores: I'm very surprised, reminds me of Kid A, wich is good! smile
For people who liked Radiohead's more electronic ballads, this is a great album!
So what do you guys think?

It doesn't remind me of anything Radiohead is done which is not to say that is bad but it is kind of interesting but I would rather have a Radiohead album. Just my opinion so far, so who knows in a month or so.

Sorry, but I found this CD and the lyrics depressing... sad

There will be a new Radiohead album soon. But what do you think is not good about this album?

I agree that it sounds like Kid A, but Kid A done badly. The lyrics aren't so great - but that's not what bothers me; it's the music. The melodies just aren't anywhere like as skillfull, the drumbeats are just as adventurous but almost too far removed from beats...I dunno - I just feel radiohead are better.

Agreed.
This album has been in constant rotation and that's rare for me with as much music as I listen to (and play/perform).
I would say it's more in line with the "electronic" songs from Hail to The Thief than Kid A. Just my O.

I see your point, but Hail To The Thief is more a uptempo album than The Eraser. So that's why I compared it to Kid A. Nevertheless, it's a great album and I expected more enthousiasm for it here.

Yes.
It's one of the best of 2006.
Period.

It's definitely one of the better albums I've heard this year, and I completely agree with the comparison to Hail to The Thief.

I'm glad this album came about. As much as I like all the experimentation since Kid A, the albums feel a little like they are paying service to a lot of different ideas heading in different directions. Eraser may not be earth-shattering, but it feels like it has a more focused intent...

Well, one complete listen and I'm really digging this album. Which is so not a suprrise, but whatevs.

It does feel very similar to Kid A to me.

I can't pick stand-out tracks or anything like that based on just ONE listen, but I am definately going to be giving this album a lot of time in the coming days.

GOOD STUFF.

i'm still absorbing this album... Radiohead stuff always takes a long time to get into my head, and this is no different. But i'm sure I will love it once it's sunk into my brain enough.

Yes, there will be a single release which is Harrowdown Hill.
It's gonna be backed with two non-lp tracks. Actual songs and some remixes. But I believe that they maybe vinly only releases. I'll have to look this up again.
Or you can go to www.ateaseweb.com and go to the message boards and look around. That's where I found out this info.
