modern man-stanley clarke I see this cd on the 'net for these crazy prices. Well,it was on my short list of wants and I found a copy for not much more than a current release!!I received it and I was not impressed upon my first listen.However,now I really like it.It's different from most of Stanley's '70's albums in that the bass is more in the background.He is focused on fully producing and it sounds like he had been paying attention to Q and George Duke.It is funky in aless ostentatious way and he actually sings quite a lot on here! He isn't bad.He sings better on this cd than I think on other works. The album is indulgent,but he was young and "feeling himself",as the kids say.He was showing the world that he wasn't just the nastiest bass thumper in the galaxy,but he could be a pop/r&b songwriter and producer. I dig this cd more and more. Now,I am down to just trying to get Children Of Forever and Rocks,Pebbles & Stone on cd from Stanley and I'll stop for a while on him. Yeah, Stanley was definitely in his Star Wars phase on that album,  ...But I really like it, especially Slow Dance ...
I have the vinyl, but I made the mistake of passing on the CD version a few years back, and of course, it went out of print  ,
