ConFunkShun I thought i would start a thread on this great but underappreciated
band.Confunkshun was one of the most versatile bands in the business. Not only could they slap you with some of the funkiest jams out there, these guys could rock a ballad with the best of them. I bought the confunkshun funk essentials cd vol.1 two years ago and it is great. Some of my favorite ballads by confunkshun are love's train, let me put love on your mind, baby i'm hooked,by your side. On the funk end--shake and dance with me,too tight,ms.got the body, chase me,and got to be enough.Got to see them last year on the black family reunion tour. Still tight. Michael Cooper says OWWW!! Don't laugh at my funk

I'm a fan. I used to have a few of their albums on vinyl. Now I just have a greatest hits and Spirit of Love on CD (which I got, I believe, while minneapolisgenius and I were shopping at Electric Fetus last summer). Love them. My fave tune is Juicy. I can listen to that one all day long!

Listing my favorites would only repeat mostly what you guys have already posted.
But I will say that if there is one song that I look forward to hearing the most during the Quiet Storm it's Straight From The Heart. This song is simply beautiful.

EWF did have a song from the powerlight album called straight from the heart. But for the purpose of this thread,we are all talking about confunkshun's straight from the heart. It was not a huge radio hit for the band because it was taken from their underapreciated "7" album of 1981. Bad Lady was the only big hit from that album. Nevertheless; it is a concert favorite of the band and a quiet storm staple on r&b radio. It is an outstanding song which i often play for my wife and wish i would have had this sung at our wedding. Don't laugh at my funk

In 1996,I saw them perform at a local nightclub. The Mary Jane Girls came on first and lead singer JoJo said "Con Funk Shun is next.We want to see them too" needless to say,Con Funk Shun turned it out! I stood right in the front of the stage for their set.

I stood right in the front of the stage for their set. I just had an OMG moment. When I read the Moments, I was think oh cool I love the song "With You." Then I had to check them out on Amazon. When I saw the discography, included was Ray, Goodman, and Brown. After a couple of more clicks, to finally realize that they are one in the same. I don't know if I just didn't hear about this before, or it didn't click the first time I heard it. I plead ignorance, and being really young in the 70's, and not making an effort to know names of band members. Also if I don't see faces, then the names don't click, that goes for everybody not just entertainers. [Edited 7/10/06 10:31am] "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

If you live in the US and there's a black "oldies" station in your area, check for the next time they have an "oldies" concert and ConFunkShun's on the bill- great show, great horn section, and a really good bassist that's been with them for about 10 years or so. If you're lucky, you might catch them with more than an hour to perform- they also rip through the Michael Cooper 80's stuff ("To Prove My Love To You", "Dinner For 2"). Great music and a great show!

2 fine productions by the late & great Skip Scarborough paligap said: ... Their LOUDEST maxi-single which i have from them . The dynamics are already mastered powerful on the album , but the maxi-version adds a little more spice . Also on that album is You Make Me Wanna Love Again , which is done a year later by Vesta Williams .
