12. I Feel Love - Donna Summer - 1977
13. Love To Love You Baby - Donna Summer - 1975

Lazy! While "Last Dance" my favorite of hers, it's probably in any top ten! Too many eighties songs that are dance, disco!

I`ve been thinking about that song, and how it would sound if the entire song was a ballad... love

I`m sure most of you are familiar with the song "The main event/Fight", a Streisand disco hit.
For the soundtrack, there was also made a ballad version of the song, and it sounded wonderful...

hmmm

Songs from the 1980s should never have been included on the list. Disco's last year was 1979 and the only song I see from 1980 that should get a "disco pass" would be "Funkytown" by Lipps, Inc.

I agree, there are a few songs from the early 80s that deserve a "disco pass"...

"Upside Down" by Diana Ross
"I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross
"Funkytown" by Lipps Inc.
"Take Your Time (Do It Right)" by SOS Band

but for the most part, disco was a 70s thing.I have numerous disco compilations that feature songs that clearly don't belong: "Take My Heart" by Kool and The Gang?..."I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz? disbelief

Did you know that both of those songs were written by Paul Jabara? He also wrote their duet hit "Enough Is Enough (No More Tears)".

Did he write more of Summer`s songs? I always think of Giorgio Moroder when it comes to her disco years.

No,he only wrote those two songs for her.In the 80s,though,he offered her two other songs that she rejected: "It's Raining Men" (recorded by the Weather Girls) and "One World",a song about the AIDS crisis.

some interesting trivia about "Last Dance"...

***According to arranger Bob Esty,at first Giorgio didn't want Donna to record "Last Dance".He felt the song didn't fit her sex goddess image. But then when he heard the finished track,he changed his tune,so to speak lol

***"Last Dance" was released in May 1978,but it was actually recorded almost a year earlier. The song was recorded in the summer of 1977,which meant that it could have easily appeared on the 'Once Upon A Time' album, released in the fall of that year. But Neil Bogart (Casablanca Records President) heard it and wisely decided to save it for the upcoming 'Thank God It's Friday' movie.

A lot of Donna's era songs are Summer/Moroder/Bellotte compositions (especailly the album tracks). Then when "Bad Girls" came out, that changed, with the songwriters credits going all over the map, with Donna writing some songs by herself, co-writing some with Moroder, and Bellotte being credited with writings songs with other players (such as Keith Forsey).
