There's lots of questionable shit on this. Okay, THIS is Philly soul:

TSOP - MFSB featuring the Three Degrees - 1974

And anyway, this list jumps the shark with its #1 choice, perhaps the most OVERPLAYED disco track ever. And not a very good song at that. I Will Survive ill

And WTF is YMCA doing on there.

SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1: Hot Stuff - Donna Summer - 1979

Disco history can never be completed without the freakin' Village People! They were THE boy band of the disco era.

BTW, Macho Man was waaaayyy better than the overrated YMCA.

Um, the boy band of the disco era was the BEE GEES lmao!

Anyway, this is not a list of most historical disco tracks, it's a list of the BEST. And no VP track should make that list imho. lol

The BEE GEES were a real band that played with real instruments! Disco, Soft Rock, Country, R&B, Soul,....they done it all! wink

I agree with your opinion to an extent: The Village People were a freakin' joke. And it's a damn shame that NBA basketball fans really don't take the time to listen to the LYRICS!!! lol

Boys in a band = boy band. I don't use that term in the pejorative sense since 'Nsync/BSB made it bad to be part of a boy band. They are a boy band just as much as the Supremes are a girl group wink

These lists are giving me a headache. Thanks, Tony! lol And the only 100 Greatest List that Born to Be Alive should be on is the list of Greatest Ass Cramps. That song's dreadful. I Will Survive is shit.

my thoughts...

***a Donna Summer song should be in the Top 10 of any list of the greatest disco songs."Bad Girls" or "Last Dance".

***where the hell is "Native New Yorker" by Odyssey? confuse

***there are several Gloria Gaynor songs on this list, but where is "Anybody Wanna Party?",her best song ever?

I have so many disco compilations that feature non--disco songs. It's insane, they should just ask ME to help them compile these things. So many people are confused and have no idea what a disco song really is lol

Songs from the 1980s should never have been included on the list. Disco's last year was 1979 and the only song I see from 1980 that should get a "disco pass" would be "Funkytown" by Lipps, Inc.

Also, "I Will Survive" should NOT be number one on the list.
Andy is a four letter word.
