Can any of you honestly say that you actually cared one way or another whether or not a show that comes on at 3 a.m. gets cancelled or not? B.E.T. Uncut wasn't even the least bit of an intrusion on most peoples' lives and no reasonable person could use the "what about the kids" excuse because if your kids are up to see it, there's a lot more you need to fix in your household than B.E.T. Uncut.
B.E.T. Uncut was relatively insignificant when it comes to youth. It was just some dumb shit for fools to watch after they came home from the club without getting laid. "Well, I couldn't pull no females up in the spot; at least B.E.T. Uncut is on." It was just titilation and anyone is three or four mouse clicks away at any given moment from far more degrading stuff than "Uncut" right on the internet. Turn the filter off in Google preferences and almost anything you type in would eventually yield some porn. Uncut was a "service" more or less because it was the ONLY way to see new rap & R&B videos by artists who didn't have a budget to go the Clear Channel route. Yes, a lot of the vids were ass-shaking vids BUT, many may not know this. They would usually air an up-and-coming new video by a mainstream artist on Uncut before the offical release. They did that with "Trapped In The Closet" and many others. They basically beta-tested select videos using Uncut. I remember seeing Mike Jone's first video on there LONG before it made it to regular rotation. All-in-all, it wasn't all that significant to anyone who wasn't up at 3. Now that B.E.T. is owned by Viacom and Viacom is completely running the network, they'll probably air infomercials. Its not like they give a damn about a viewing audience. | |

After watching the director's cut of Tip Drill, I can't help but to ask this question to all of the women that have seen THIS video: What the hell was she thinking in allowing ANY MAN (let alone Nelly, a recording artist) to swipe a credit card between her booty? It's too easy to blame male rap artists & video directors for wanting to film these kinds of controversial scenes (sex sells, remember?). But what about these women (video vixen, video hoes, etc.) that really wanted to be in THESE KINDS of videos. These women (black, white, latina, asian, whatever) ALWAYS have a choice. They don't have to do this. No matter how bad they need the money or the exposure, they don't have to allow themselves to go through this foolishness of having their bodies & self-respect abuse like this. AND ONE other thing to all women & men: What if Tip Drill was a Lil' Kim video? What if Kim were to take her credit card and swipe between a man butt, would the outrage be the same from both male & female critics? Or would there be a double standard between the genders? Honestly (and I know the men here will skewer me for this) but I don't think it would be as terrible if it were a woman doing the same act to a man for the simple fact that men are not sexually objectified even 50% as much as women are so the image is ultimately less detrimental IMO. It's not drummed into people's heads over & over & over, day after day, minute after minute that a man's only purpose is to provide sex. I can't say I ever saw it, but I heard about it. On VH1 there was a special about hip hop video "Hoes" and how the men of the entertainment industry use and abuse them. Acutally it was werid because Prince's video director Sanaa Hamri had a little speeking snipit in the show. She basically said that the girls didn't know any better and didn't have to let men degrade them to get into videos. | |
