This is the week a superstar black-rock band tours Europe. This lineup sounds real cool. I hope they get over here.

Punk-Funk All-Stars setlist- first thoughts
Category: Music

I've started thinking about what songs the Punk-Funk All-Stars are going to play...we're gonna remix and rework stuff, no doubt

When I saw Sly play (yes, I'm old enough to have actually seen Sly and the Family Stone play- though I was in my first year of high school)
He sang every song on top of a different groove (chord progression, arrangement, the whole nine) then the original
a couple of times he sang a "classic" on top of a different "classic's" groove-
seriously ill- but fiya we'll be going there... with harmelodics and BAG/AACM tactics thrown in, of course. So... we're gonna play some "classics"- but you might not recognize a couple of them. Anyway... this is what I'm thinking today setwise:

Pressure (written by Blood Ulmer)
Make Them Dance (written by Defunkt)
Jazz is the Teacher Funk Is the Preacher (written by Blood Ulmer)
Eye on You (written by Shannon Jackson)
We All Dance Together (written by Defunkt)
Small World (written by Shannon Jackson)
Glad To Be In America (written by Blood Ulmer)
Strangling Me With Your Love (written by Defunkt)

in addition:
Vernon suggested we play: Bra (by Cymande)
and Shannon has always wanted to use the groove from: Ecstacy (by the Ohio Players) for a harmelodic jump-off point- so we will

one"
