Why didn't Chaka thank RUFUS in BET Legend Award acceptance speech? Congratulations to Chaka for her well deserved honor. Being an avid fan of her music since her 70's debut, I am concerned as to why Rufus, the group who she climbed the ladder of success with, and who should also be considered as legendary, was not mentioned in her acceptance speech?

In 2001,she did a reunion tour with Rufus.They opened for Earth Wind and Fire.During the show,Chaka mentioned that she and Rufus are recording a new album together.That would have been interesting,for sure. | |

Let's not 4get HAWK
On StreetPlayer there was for one time another drummer ( pictured between Hawk & Chaka ) . Or is that Andre Fisher ? Not shure , but i remember reading another name in the liner-notes . & when exactly did John "JR" Robinson join the band ? 
Does Chaka have beef with the whole band or only with Andre ? I've read in this thread she did a reunion in 2001 , so what's up with that ? . . . [Edited 7/10/06 11:58am] | |

In the book she touches on it & how sometimes he would jump on her in the studio. She swore to never work with him or anything involving him again. She also stated how that when Natalie Cole married Andre she had to cool their friendship because of that. | |

Chaka ain't an EASY customer, either!
She broke a champagne bottle on his head for attacking her husband. I think the reason why she couldn't get along with Rufus is becoz of the material. She wanted a more Jazz oriented atmosphere and they just wanted FUNK. The one RUFUS member she's still cool with to this day is Tony Maiden(who was her also part-time lover during that phase). | |
