Yes she has the same stage aggression and confidence of Tina. I know its hard to admit but one of the young ones really gets it. Beyonce is pretty tight. The rightful heir to Tina imo.

Totally disagree. Though i know why she gets the comparisons to Tina, Beyonce could never be Tina, or come close. First of all the struggles and what Tina came from, also what she lived through with Ike, and also lets remember that back in Tinas day, being black was a major issue, there were still seperate bathrooms for blacks and whites back then when Tina was coming up. Beyonce has had it all handed to her, from her label, to her parents, to her boyfriend. From day one Destinys child was all about getting Beyonce to be a star not making a group. So to compare Tina and Beyonce is like spitting at Tina, i think the fact that Tina survived to this day makes her one of the strongest females, black or white in history, i dont think we know the half of what that women went through. Just because Beyonce does her hair up and shows Legs doesnt make her Tina.

omg...that's hilarious.

Beyonce can't dance for shit. She does all that thrashing and rolling on the ground to hide the fact that she can't dance. She has the grace of an elephant.

her performance on the BET awards was far from dynamic....homegirl looked like she was exhausted as hell from all that booty shakin' and rolling all over the stage like she was Patti Labelle....

i do give her this, her voice is strong....but if i listen to her for more than 30 minutes her singing gets really annoying.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Okay, she can work her way through a scala of notes, often in one line. She can shake her ass, but wtf does she think she can earn my respect with? She hasn't written a classic. She just knows how to market her stuff by wearing skimpy outfits. She is all blingbling to me, with not so much musical prowess that I can wowed to like her.

First, she can have a try at my respect my being inovative. By writing songs that are immediate classic, not just the latest producer tricks.

I mean, I love her voice. If she tries to sing instead of pumping them notes out in one line she might actually produce a decent song. I would love her doing some more classic stuff, Aretha style, without too much wailing throughout.

Why can't women push sex and also be seen as talented? Male performers like Mick Jagger and Prince are sexy, but no one tells them to stop being sexy because you're distracting people from your talent.
I personally don't think Beyonce is that talented, but she has a point. Women are seen as sex objects and people have a hard time understanding that a sexy woman can also have talent. Whereas in male performers, sex appeal doesn't take away from their talent but is seen as part of the whole package which makes them gifted performers.

Prince's genius has not been recognized by the masses because of his hypersexual image from the early years. In 2006, there are people that have no clue that Prince plays the guitar, piano, drums and bass...or that the majority of his music was written, composed, arranged and performed by him. Prince gets respect in the music world but not by the general public.

Because when women do it their sex overpowers anything they bring to the stage. I dare say most men would fancy a stripper or a whore over a female singer who pushes sex.

Beyonce Knowles blames her beautiful looks for preventing people from seeing what a talented artist she really is.The former Destiny's Child singer has enjoyed a flourishing solo career and has had movie success starring in films including the pink panther - but she still yearns to be respected as an artist.

The 24-year-old says, "It's frustrating, because sometimes, when you are attractive, people don't acknowledge that you are talented as well."

"I mean, I'm a songwriter, I'm a producer, I have a strong voice, I'm a dynamic performer. Sometimes people forget that."

***** Here is the argument...can you expect to be taken seriously when half the time you are scantily clad onstage shaking your ass in high heeled stilettos, getting your ass smacked, and you gyrating on the ground???

no, prince could only do that for himself, i wasn't suggesting that she do it.

if she has such a problem with people "not respecting" her, then maybe she should pull a Lauryn Hill:

- declare that the whole music industry is full liars and fake people who mislead her

- disappear for about 4 years

- try to make a comeback wearing no makeup and obviously overdue missed appointments for brow waxings

- go on MTV and participate on their unplugged show to explain the whole thing

- lead the fans and public on with an anticipated Destiny's Child reunion with a tour and album

- then a few years pass with fans wondering why the reunion hasn't happened yet

- appear in another concert film hosted by Dave Chappelle

maybe then she'll be satisfied. lol lol

All that ass shakin, not the business....Ciara, Beyonce, Christina, they can all take a page from the dance book of Janet & Madonna...then get back at me

And grace...singing is one thing, talking is another....I said TAlKING is another...

DID YOU HEAR ME I SAID TALKING/DIALECT

lol

You know, new artists should have to go thru the same kinda Motown re-form schools they had back in the day. That's the reason why Mrs. Ross is THE BOSS

Because most male performers that push sex take a more "check out my voice and damn, aren't i hot?" approach, while most female performers package it as "oooh yeah..fuck me hard daddy! -oh yeah, i sing sometimes too"

That's a big fucking difference. Nothing wrong with being sexy, or even using sex to sell your product. It's when the sex overpowers the substance that the performer ceases to be taken seriously.

That sounds exactly like the double standard that Beyonce is complaining about. Nobody made a big deal about Prince prancing around on stage in bikini briefs in his early days, or Motley Crue putting strippers on stage with poles at their concerts when singing "Girls, Girls, Girls," or The Rolling Stones putting an inflatable penis on stage during the late 1970's, but Beyonce shakes her moneymaker on stage, and she's a skanky ho? I don't think she's trying to use sex to overpower her substance; she's doing exactly what Tina Turner did back in the day. Thr problem is that Britney Spears has to overpower her fans with sex because she has little to no substance, and Christina overdid the sex stuff without reralizing how much substance she has. Beyonce has just the right amount of sex appeal but gets lumped up with all of the other performers of her age who overdid the sex stuff in their acts.

From what I am reading on these threads, you expect Beyonce to dance like the greatest Soul Train dancers ever, sing like Aretha, and write music as compelling as Prince, Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen. Cut her some slack. She's not the greatest performer ever, but she is talented, and she kicks more ass then abot 90% of her peers.
