Beyonce Knowles blames her beautiful looks for preventing people from seeing what a talented artist she really is.The former Destiny's Child singer has enjoyed a flourishing solo career and has had movie success starring in films including the pink panther - but she still yearns to be respected as an artist.

The 24-year-old says, "It's frustrating, because sometimes, when you are attractive, people don't acknowledge that you are talented as well."

"I mean, I'm a songwriter, I'm a producer, I have a strong voice, I'm a dynamic performer. Sometimes people forget that."

I take watching her perform VERY seriously.

She's a songwriter, but her songs SUCK! "I dont' think you're ready for this jelly" I mean, what the fuck is that? And what has she produced?

Maybe if she stopped making music that sucked. I'm not a fan, but I can admit she's got a great voice. She needs something to showcase it more. Maybe if she made something worth listening to she'd get mroe respect.

She's always keen to stress that she's a songwriter and insists on taking sole responsibility for a lot of her output. She goes on about so often in fact I'm beginning to suspect her songs are ghost written...

Beyonce is beautiful and can sing...but it sounds like she needs to get a grip on herself.

I don't really like her music, but she does have a point, attractive sexy women aren't always respected in the music business for their talent. Look at all the denigrating remarks that have been made about Madonna over the years.
But if Beyonce continues to have hits many years down the road, she will eventually be respected the way that Madonna generally is now. In a way, Beyonce is just starting out in her career. You can't demand respect, you have to earn it over a long period of time.

I understand Beyonces point but u cant have it both ways. U cant push SEX and then complain thats all that people look at. you have to have a common ground, i mean Tina Turner sold Sex but is respected for her music too. I think the main problem is that Beyonce is complaining about something she created, but the same can be said of Mariah Carey too. To be honest I love Mariah but i could care less about her music, I think i stopped caring about what Mariah was singing after she did Mtv Unplugged, and Mariah writes everything but her image just cancels it out, Glitter is the only album of hers that i can even listen too straight through.

I think what Beyonce wants is the respect that an Alicia Keys or Norah Jones gets, but that will not happen because in every video, u are half naked, rolling on the ground, dont get me wrong Beyonce is hot, but u just have to find a middle ground and right now she cant.
