Is Pharrell Williams Played Out?

Not disrespect to DreamFactory313, but is Pharrell just about played out? I mean his new song with Kanye West is not all that impressive to me. What do you think? heart ya Dreams.

IMHO the Neptunes were finished - creatively - in 2001. They should have just quit then.

I think Pharrell and co. are some cool mf's but their production is WAY played-out.

No way. Some of the only mainstream stuff I still like is from the Neptunes.

Yup. They've been doing too much of the same thing for too long, IMO. Again, I think they're cool as hell (Pharrell's hot, too love) and they ARE talented and creative, but they need to change it up.

yeah, i see your point. they definitely have a unique sound but now it's time for a channge. timbaland had they whole middle eastern sound for a while which was hot at the time but then i was thinking to myself he needs to switch it up too. i like what he's done for nelly furtado.

They make the most purple music today, including uptempo funk.

Like the new shit from Famlay, The Clipse.

"Say Somethin" was one of the best singles last year.

that song and Wanna Love You Girl with Robin Thicke were the last songs that Pharrell did that I enjoyed.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I wouldn't say he's played out. But Pharrell's probably lost alot of potential momentum he had when his album was originally supposed to release last November.

Lame....needs to stay behind the board....no vocal or lyrical skillz @ all! The fake MJ moves make the visual worse than the audio. He's holding the CD because the material is weak...not played out but highly overrated...perfect example of how watered down the talent level is now in R&B and Hip-Hop.

Mentioning these 2 in the same conversation should be ILLEGAL.

I think he should have never tried to pull a Puff Daddy. He should of just stuck to producing.

Well, maybe people (the general public) are a bit tired of him by this point. Over-exposure most definitely. But I'm sure he can start living off on his fanbase for his own records and still get a lot of work oppurtinities as a producer for the stars. I don't see him going totally away anytime soon.

HeĀ“ll probably be around for at least a decade.

Truthfully, this isn't a fair comparison. Prince has more talent than just about anyone in the bizz. Whether you like Pharrell or not, you're just stating the obvious.

Is it just me or does this chorus sound like "Blame It On The Boogie" by The Jacksons? This sounds like a MJ 1979 production..but maybe that's why I kind of dig it.

Pharrell is always in somebodies video and song. It seems like if an artist wants a hit they call Pharrell.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.
