The radio is probably gonna try to play it out, but respectfully...I don't feel it much. It's kinda omg Um.....from Rock Ya Body to this???

Its bouncy and hard-beats and stuff, but I wouldnt wanna choose it as a single

The song brings these images to mind:

...and I still like it. What's bad about it is so "cliche' bad" that it's good again.
It's a good club track and it will do well.

But what if it becomes a pivotal song in hip-hop?
I often wonder if hip-hop will have to die before the guys will put on a pair of pants that fit.
Sag really ain't sexy. I'm guessing that this video will, in some way, "bring sexy back".

Justin's an imitator so his pants will be sagging to some extent with the rest of them. lol

I hope not. Hip-hop is long overdue this change. The song, alone, takes good risks (lyrical). It would be a shame if the video didn't follow suit and it would be such a waste of a song that's just right for that. I'm still thinking that it will be the video/song that starts the chain reaction and makes people begin to rethink hip-hop.

Not at all.
In terms of thinking outside the hip-hop box, this song could be a catalyst.

hip-hop?
I know. But that's kind of where he left off. Hip-hop, Hip-pop.

Anyway, that puts him in a good place with this one.
All the stars are aligned as far as hip-hop goes. Change is Sooo long overdue...the right person with enough nerve could step in and lead it in other directions/ open it up to change.

Andre 3000 could have done it but his image was more costume than real.

The song lyric brings something new but, more than that, the title could so be it's own "anthem for change".

It doesn't have to be a great song to be in a great place. This song is the right song in a good place.

All they have to do is use it right.

Anyway, that's where this song sits. Not everyone will see it, though.

I know.

On one hand I get the humor in it...because it's JT and because of the song itself. On the other, it's very obvious why this song is in a good place.

Hip Hop is stagnant today because it's so rigid...afraid of any real change.
Especially change that effects sexuality. The roles haven't changed at all regards that. This song challenges all that.

I agree with anon that Hip Hop is in desperate need of change but I don't see SexyBack as being the song to change things. If that's the case then why hasn't there been a movement to make songs like Promiscuous? That was made by Timbaland too.

Nothing close to Timberlake will lead the change in Hip-Hop,pop,slop,or anything else. He will be on the sidelines, pen and pad in hand, trying to steal that next big thing. (I can't believe i'm having this discussion about Justin Timberlake!)

Thing is, no song will change things. Things have already changed. Hip hop has to catch up...find a current voice.

This simple song is doing interesting things. It can be a catalyst for hip hop to take a look outside of itself.

Promiscuous is a good call. It's never one thing to make change...most of the time it's unspoken and collective. It's usually one thing that gets credit, though. The one that defines the move/change. The JT track is a good contender.
