She should be thankful it's that way. If it wasn't for her smoking looks, I, and probably millions others, wouldn't have a clue how she 'sounded'. What would be the point in watching her videos? For the music? The mind-blowing musicianship? Errr, don't think so. At least with the help of her pretty little face, her shitty little 'tunes' get lodged into people's heads on a daily basis.
Then again, who actually watches her videos with the sound up anyway? I'm still not sure what type of music she dabbles in. It's blugrass mixed with some folk, isn't it?  | |

i dunno...she is very attractive and she does have a great voice. why should she pretend that she doesn't know that. i don't think the statement came off sounding egotistical as much as it came off sounding candid.
that said, maybe if she put some clothes on in her videos people would pay more attention to her talents as opposed to her assets. | |

Beautiful people are so delusional.
When Beyonce first came out she had neither beauty nor talent. Just the hint of both. She grew into both of them. I remember her live performances during the Say My Name era and while the song was hot, her stage presence and delivery were sh*tty. Slowly, she became a dynamo on stage and apparently got her voice trained. She has not always sounded so good. And yes, I do think she's a powerhouse vocalist. And a great trend-setting performer. If she had debuted as strong as she is now, everyone would be focused on her talent, but she didn't. And what little beauty she had when she debuted is probably what got her enough attention to go solo. So don't blame it now. She rode that beauty/sexy train that her father pimped her on all the way to the bank. She can save herself now by penning some artistic songs. Her talent is recognized, but it's not used to do anything spectacular. When it is, people will talk. As a solo artist, while I have liked many of her songs, she has not done anything classic or eclectic. | |

Beyonce did attempt to bring something different when she released "Work It Out." Unfortunately, the song wasn't well received, so she ended up going safe with songs like "Crazy In Love" "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl" for her album.
She even sported a more Afrocentric look during that time.
