that song was horrid. That's part of the charm! The song and video are certainly a little goofy, but she was looking damned fine in the video! http://www.youtube.com/wa...EGSOF1jZwY "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Not so fast She had many uptempo jams too,the best being "Secret Rendezvous" (1989),you remember that one? It won't stop,it don't stop a non-stop Secret Rendezvous Also, she had that big dance hit in 1986 (pre-LA and Babyface) "The Facts Of Love",a great uptempo song and let's not forget "The Way You Love Me". I remember maybe one or two uptempo songs from her but they were weak poppish sounding ones kinda like Shi...uh, Whitney used to do. Andy is a four letter word.

At the time I might have liked Karyn more because of the Jam & Lewis connection, but Jody was more in tune with the clubs, plus she has her whole background in Shalamar so Jody wins. Man, I would love to get a complete Jody Watley 12" collection.

Karyn White definitely had the better voice hands down but i must admit
jody watley was packaged better therefore she sustained a better career but even with all that she ran out of gas quickly around 1994. Karyn had some great songs such as superwoman, love the way you love me, romantic, the way i feel about you. Her cd make him do right was classic but overlooked and maybe why she decided to pack her bags and call it a day. For my money i would take karyn white. By the way did someone mention pebbles-- pleeeeeze!!! Don't laugh at my funk

My vote goes to Jody. She had the total package: good looks, sex appeal, voice and could dance her ass off.

While we're at it.
Jody Watley: Still a Thrill - my fave Prince song that he never did Friends - my fave rap/vocal duet, and my fave Jody single and video...dig that chandalier ring Real Love - great video Don't You Want Me - my fave single from her first solo album Most of All - total Madonna song, thanks to Patrick Leonard, but great vid) Looking for a New Love I'm the One You Need - loved it at the time, but I don't think the song aged well. Still love the dancing. I gotta mention it - as much as I love Friends and Rakim's rap, this line always bugs me: "And don't ya act two-faceded" Karyn White: The Way You Love Me - love it, but that pink lipstick and that hat Superwoman - the female anthem! Great song, but the way she sings the intro line always sounds odd to me. Too drawn out Romantic - hot song! One of the best examples of the Minneapolis funk sound. The video's a total Vogue rip. Hungah - terrible quality video upload. She started losing it for me here. That's the Way Love Goes with different lyrics. The Way I Feel About You - dig her hat in the quick interview cut right before the video! ... [Edited 7/8/06 8:55am]

It's not the greatest by any means, but you can listen to, say, "Love Makes Things Happen" and still say she can't sing? At any rate, she's about as foine as they come. Everyone doesn't like an artist the same. It is just that i thought pebbles was as wack as they come. She could not sing period. Girlfriend was straight up early 80's Deele and they were even in the video. Mercedes Boy was just alright. The only song that i really liked by pebbles was a song that ironically andre cymone produced for her i think was called love hate from a soundtrack or something. I honestly can tell you jody watley and karyn white would run cirles around pebbles on their worst day. Pebbles! Pebbles! Bam! Bam! Don't laugh at my funk

Of course "Girlfriend" reminds you of the Deele -- it was written by Babyface and L.A. Reid! "Love/Hate" is from Beverly Hills Cop II. It's a nice song, but not one of her best. As far as Jody and Karyn running circles around her "on their worst day," whatever. She has as many #1 hits as Karyn (twice as many as Jody) and, AFAIC, Always is the best album by any of them (and it isn't even close). Also, her last album Straight from My Heart showed a lot of artistic growth and was way ahead of its time. I love Jody and Karyn, but I love Pebbles more. That was decent coming from her. I still feel jody and karyn would have outshined her singing that song. The duet with face was okay but karyn's duet with babyface love saw it tops that as well as superwoman, how i want you,can i stay with you, nobody but my baby, etc. Giving you the benefit was straight garbage from pebbles. That cd straight from my heart was straight from the gutter. The leadoff single which i cannot even remember the title was the worst she ever done. And to correct you the always album was not even remotely close to the first jody cd in which she had five top ten singles or any of karyn's cd. Make him do right smokes that pebbles cd period. Oh and again pebbles!pebbles! Bam! Bam! Don't laugh at my funk

The block was off for about a week and I was having a ball watching videos on youtube. I do remember a song of hers that I hated the album version but half way liked the 12 Inch when they played it on the radio. For some reason, I keep getting Karyn White confused with Siedah Garrett (I think) and "K-I-S-S-I-N-G". I hated that song. Andy is a four letter word.
