Grammy Award winning producer Dallas Austin has received a pardon for possession of cocaine for personal use by a Dubai court yesterday (July 3).

Austin, 34, was convicted and sentenced to four years in a Dubai prison, where he had been incarcerated since May 19, when he was caught with 1.26 grams and five-and-a-half capsules of cocaine when he was arrested.

Just hours after the conviction, a pardon was issued, followed by a deportation order.

Austin, who was in the country to attend a three-day private party for supermodel Naomi Campbell, appeared briefly in court on Sunday (July 2) and told judges he made a mistake and had unintentionally violated the laws of Dubai, a member of the United Arab Emirates.

Austin has produced hit records for Aretha Franklin, Brandy, Boyz II Men, Madonna, Monica, TLC, Lenny Kravitz and others.

I thought he was gonna be beheaded or sumthin...

Drug addicts NEVER learn.....

He is flown out of the country and is heading back here in the States. Dallas is one lucky mofo. I hope that he learns his lesson from this but I doubted.

What does it SAY about America when a druggie can walk around FREELY here but be imprisoned elsewhere? Some our policiies are a JOKE....and NOT the funny kind.

The bigger problem lies with the drug DEALERS. Arresting junkies doesn't cur them or eas the problem. The US will never get rid of drugs. Too much money in it. Arresting and not treating junkies is not a solution.
