Vince Gill to release Quad album He got the green light even if his last album didn't sell gold. And look at the guests? That's a hell of a tab for studio cameos. Still one hell of a guitarist...
from billboard: Gill Drafts Country Stars For Quadruple Album Vince Gill June 28, 2006, 4:25 PM ET Phyllis Stark, Nashville Vince Gill is readying an unusual boxed set for fall release, Billboard.com has learned. While most such sets are career retrospectives, Gill's ambitious, four-CD package, "These Days," will feature only new material. The set's 43 songs range from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock, showcasing Gill's mastery of various musical styles. The project is chock-full of guest musicians, including Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Rodney Crowell, Phil Everly, the Del McCoury Band, Emmylou Harris, John Anderson, Lee Ann Womack, LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Guy Clark, Trisha Yearwood, Bekka Bramlett, Michael McDonald and steel guitar player Buddy Emmons. Gill's wife, Amy Grant, and his daughter, Jenny Gill, are also featured. The artist says he was not bound by deadlines or rules in creating this package, due Oct. 17 via MCA Nashville, and enjoyed the artistic freedom that it brought. He produced the set with Justin Niebank and keyboardist John Hobbs. Gill’s last studio album, “Next Big Thing,” debuted in March 2003 at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 286,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Can't think of anything else to say but "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

Eek is right.....I shudder to think what this little jewel will cost..... Besides, he looks like a fat version of my ex-husband, so that's a strike against him right off the bat. "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 I disagree about his vocals, however in fairness he is an accomplished guitarist. My cousin plays keyboards with _____ (ain't saying on the org) out of Nashville, and supposedly Vince Gill is a really kind, honest, and down-to-earth good guy.....but I still have a hard time looking at him. I cannot escape the Bramlett name lately. Does she sound like mama? She sure looks like her.

I know her only by name. But Bonnie Bramlett (that's her mama) was/is quite a vocalist.

I'm a big Vince fan. Dude has the best of both worlds - great high tenor voice, and killer guitar chops. Dude can play the hell out of a tele! Plus, he's well-liked by seemingly everyone. That's a good talent to have as well. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I agree with you completely. I saw him on TNN once go note for note with Chet Atkins a while ago. That's funny that the Chairman said "I have a more radical idea" Here's more on the project from his site: started looking at all these songs I had,” the amiable superstar explains, “and going, ‘Shoot, I want to record that song, and I want to record that song.’ I just kept checking with the other musicians to see if they were available. I had no deadlines, no rules or anything like that. So I just kept trying songs.” To accompany him on this ambitious undertaking, Gill turned both to artists he knew and had worked with before and to those whose music he admired at a distance. “I never try to fill up my records with famous people,” Gill says. “I try to fill them up with the most talented people I can find on the face of the earth.” By the time the project was completed, that group included Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Rodney Crowell, Phil Everly, the Del McCoury Band, Emmylou Harris, John Anderson, Lee Ann Womack, Jenny Gill, Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Guy Clark, Trisha! Yearwood, Bekka Bramlett, Michael McDonald, steel-guitar master Buddy Emmons and many other musical standouts. Initially, Gill planned to pare down the songs he’d recorded to a single album. Then, in one of the studios he used, he spotted some Beatles memorabilia and recalled that the Fab Four had routinely released multiple albums within the same year. Gill took the idea to Luke Lewis, Universal Music Group Nashville Co-Chairman, who totally supported his notion of multiple releases. In fact, Lewis came up with an even more radical strategy: he told Vince to go and record more songs that explore his passion for acoustic sounds and release a 4-CD set. And that’s exactly what happened.
