I think you should listen to Pull Out The Pin. yeah. i can hear it in the lushness of "hounds of love" and in the beats of "sensual world". there's a stagey - theatrical - almost kind of musical theater sound to "the dreaming" when i listen to it. i've never really heard that quality in bjork's music, even in "selmasongs". bjork's music has always been very full and "thick"...the dreaming sounds very layered but "thin" to me.

Brilliant! Because I couldn't disagree more. Well, we hear different things, then. Isn't that great.

Cloudbuster said: Anx said: fine. so 'the dreaming' inspired the PROCESS by which bjork records everything she does. that's great, but i don't hear it. so it's entirely possible for me not to appreciate the sound of one while enjoying the other.
eno uses oblique strategies to create his music. i may think the process is kooky, but the end result is what it is. if someone told me kelly clarkson used oblique strategies on her last album, i probably wouldn't like it any better than i already do. I'm not saying you have to like it. I'm just saying that I'm surprised that you don't. Replace Kate's vocals with Bjork's and it could almost be a Bjork album. I'm gonna put it on today.

I'm just saying that I'm surprised that you don't. Replace Kate's vocals with Bjork's and it could almost be a Bjork album. I'm gonna put it on today. Treat it like you would Homogenic. Put it on LOUD, let it overwhelm you and get lost in the soundscapes. Attention to the vocals isn't neccessary, let them just fall in to place. And good luck. For me it's an album that would really benefit from a remaster. Like Anx said, it can sound quite thin compared to more modern stuff but that's because the initial CD transfer is shit. The vinyl sounds much better and, in my opinion, one of the most well mastered albums of its era.

They were all done in '99. New sleeve notes, additional tracks, extra CD's, the lot. Then she scrapped them.
