I could see Prince writing & producing a song(s) for MJ to sing
but I don't see any advantage to the two of them singing together except for the historical significance.

But I don't think they're complementary artists. I don't think their voices would blend well at all. And they're both such showmen, I'm not sure either could give the other time for his spotlight. I just watched that James Brown clip. It reminds me that way back then, Prince was the gross weird one and Michael was the cute normal one. The James Brown clip is a little misleading...Prince back then was not that confident a performer, which is why MJ kicked his ass onstage early on....But by 1985, he started to become a revalation onstage...By the Parade tour dude was on fire...But it was obvious during the James Brown gig that Prince was not all there...It was less about him being the "gross one" (LOL) than him being intimidated and clearly drunk (LOL).....

"Gross" may be relative. I think you're right about intimidated. I think he knew how to perform well even then, but he tried to do too much without having any idea specifically of what to do. Mike just did a couple moves and hugged James. That was the right thing to do. Prince actually handed James his shirt to hold and tried to take over the show--very unsuccessfuly. I don't think it was out of disrespect, on the contrary, I think he was intimidated, but he was at the point where he wouldn't let that show, and it came across as ridiculously cocky, not to mention weird. But Mike was so on back then, and Prince was great, but insecure and kind of overcompensating for it. My Legacy
