I just think that Prince has moved beyond Michael. To be honest, I just don't think that Michael and Prince have very much in common musically anymore, if they ever had anything in the first place. It's very ironic to me because Prince was always sort of in Michael's shadow in a way. But Prince is now more than a pop star: he's definitely a musician/artist. Never say never, but I just don't think that Prince, at this point in HIS career, would be interested in working with Michael, and it has nothing to do with Michael's personal problems.
I remember that I read that Joe Jackson told Jam and Lewis that he didn't want Janet to sound like Prince, or something like that? Now look at Prince: decades later it's Prince who is the living legend. It's so weird to me how things turn-out.

Exactly!!! My point for starting THIS thread. Londell could convince both independent artists that a duet album is good business.

I'd be interested in hearing what they'd come up with. Yeah, I heard it when Prince was on the radio when the Musicology tour was happenin'. Somebody said "Everybody would've liken to seen you and Micheal Jackson doing a song togther, what do you think about that?" and Prince said "Oh, that'll be cool, no problem". Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

It's so weird to me how things turn-out. see i disagree.. i think prince and MJ are about the same case N point NPS and Blood on the dance floor lololol I just look as Prince with more of a rock/funk/r&b feel than Michael. Michael is more pop/r&b to me. Prince has always been more of a musician/songwriter/vocalist/performer to me--ya know part of a band--where as Michael is more of a songwriter/vocalist/performer. One is not better than the other mind you: it's more about a "mentality" or way of thinking. It's just a little bit different dynamic. In addition, I just think Prince has matured whereas Michael is sort of stuck in time. However, in all fairness, Michael hasn't had the chance to focus much on his music these past few years. According the the quote upthread, Prince has already said that he'd work with Michael, so I just really think that Prince admires Michael as an artist, and Prince seems to enjoy working with those whom he admires. Prince has said in the past that Michael is a genius. In fact, Prince obviously "sees" Michael's talent which a lot of the public may have forgotten due to his personal problems. Apparently Prince hasn't forgotten though. It's not as if I said "hell no" to Prince working with Michael. I've never been a huge fan of Michael's, but I respect his accomplishments for sure. I just didn't know if they were both on the same page, so to speak. But both of those guys know music, so that's probably enough. It's cool that Prince has expressed interest. That's really cool. It's a non-Prince music forum. If you don't like the MJ threads then you have the option to neither open them nor post on them. Yes, it's that simple.

I don't know. I don't even really care that much. I'd still be interested to hear a collaboration, tho'. It would probably be some fine funky tune. And Prince actually has covered MJ's material a few times in concert. So you never know.

I love both of them, Michael a little bit more. I would like to see them work together, maybe Prince's input on a Michael song. But a duet...what in the fuck would they sing about together?

"Your butt is mine!"... Really though, in 1997 P said in the Chris Rock interview that the Bad album was the one time a collab may have happened and it would have resulted in a pretty bad PR move for P moreso than Michael. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

Wot th fuck?! Michael is NOT paedophile!! He was tried by a fair court and jury and proven innocent. And i love him. So there. I'd love it if him and Prince did a song together. Not an album but just a single would do. That hotness from the James Brown tribute evening wasn't enough for me Hardcore Michael Jackson fan forever and a day.
Don't care what u say cuz he's my angel and I love him.

Absolutely not!!
While I like MJ's music a lot, I don't want to see Prince perform with him. To me, they are not even in the same league. Sure, MJ is a fantastic entertainer and he writes some nice lyrics, but Prince is much more of a musician. I also respect the fact that Prince has tried to keep his personal life personal. I will always enjoy listening to MJ's music, but I have lost a lot of respect for him over the years. His behaviour turns me off. Prince on the other hand has become much more accessible and he seems to really be enjoying his life and career right now.

They're pop icons from the same time period who also happen to be black men from the Midwest.
But I don't think they're complementary artists.

But I don't think they're complementary artists. I don't think their voices would blend well at all. And they're both such showmen, I'm not sure either could give the other time for his spotlight. I just watched that James Brown clip. It reminds me that way back then, Prince was the gross weird one and Michael was the cute normal one. My Legacy
