Sleater-Kinney breaking up http://www.rollingstone.c.../#more-151
One of my favorite bands, period. Not always easy to listen to, but almost always worth the effort. [Edited 6/27/06 13:06pm]

This really sucks.
Though they are a local band, I'd only discovered them with "The Woods". That album sent me on a frenzy, buying up everything S-K. I only got to see them live once, and they were pretty incredible. It's a shame this band didn't achieve the amount of attention it deserved. bc "I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs

And, yeah, they definitely never got the recognition they deserved. A lot of people just don't like her voice, I assume.

They've grown alot musically. It has more of a classic rock vibe to it than their usual alternative/punk. I know Janet has a another band already, so she'll probably be working more with them. I would've killed to see them open for Pearl Jam last year, and I'd kill to see Lollapalooza this year. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Janet's other band, Quasi, opened up for S-K at the lone show I'll ever get to see. Funny, I never thought of it this way, but it was a two-piece band opening for a 3 piece band (without bass). They were pretty good, but I haven't listened to any of their albums. I've had The Hot Rock & All Hands on the Bad One in heavy rotation since you posted the news...I'm sure this will eventually lead to the harder stuff. bc "I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs

I have their last five albums and those are the two I like the least. Of the last five, I would put them in this order: Dig Me Out The Woods One Beat All Hands On The Bad One The Hot Rock

There's a sadness that distinguishes it from the others...) The Woods Dig Me Out All Hands On the Bad One Sleater-Kinney Looks like they are playing a farewell show in Portland on August 11th, tickets to go on sale Saturday. Wish me luck!
