Labels Never learn Labels always bitch and moan about slagging sales (lies) and then they do what they do every year, jam all their releases, re-releases, greatest hits packages, box sets, Music DVDS, into the last 3 months of the year and then wonder why Cds get lost in the shuffle. Every year when i worked in Music Retail i heard from label people about how this year would be different "that we are going to spread out" the releases this year to not overwhelm the consumer, and yet every year come September they open the flood gates and put out everything from New cds, to reissues, to greatest hits, u all know the deal. Already the plan is to jam in the likes of Beyonce, Justin, Jessica, Janet, a Mariah Dvd, and tons of others just in September to October. What is going to happen is people will get confused, alot of this releases will tank, and this year the plan is to unleash more music than ever in the 4th quarter, wow its gonna backfire big time. Labels can only effectively promote so many things at once, that's for sure.
But if they're just repackaging and re-releasing some old shit, then why not put it out during Christmas? but but but

If you are wondering what the record companies are doing wrong, you should check out this neat little article (okay, maybe not so little) called "The Long Tail":
http://www.wired.com/wire.../tail.html No, its not about an evil extra-terrestrial animal who has an extended body part which can choke humans, nor is it about a video ho with an exceptionally delectable ass. Its about how the internet and digital distribution is allowing savvy companies to make as much money from marginal products as it does from their best sellers. It was just released as a book and is already on the best-seller list.

Labels stopped caring bout music decades ago.
as pretty much did people, eveyone you mentioned really has nothing to do with music. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Thats why they do rap acts a lot. Its cheap to produce, market and sell, as u have the built in audience. who buy one album, then u dump the artist as they are wack. Thats the sure fire solution. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince
