Show some love for this great vocalist. Al is one of my favorite male vocalists. Brotha went through the 80's with some great albums. I love THIS TIME released in 1980. I love every track off this album. But an underrated album from Al is HEART'S HORIZONreleased in 1988. Al's voice is an instrument, as he is known to improvise over instrumental breaks as a trumpet,saxophone,or keyboard would do. He has an amazing voice (his voice is effective on all types of material) and he's an underrated songwriter as well.

this Cat just does Vocal Runs which you wouldn't Believe at times.i Have His Early 80's stuff Mainly when he was on a role&the Guy just Phrases&whatnot like Magic at times.He doesn't get Half the Love he should.He is so Cool at working with different Styles.if He put His Mind to it He could Proably Scat&Rap at the same time.He has a Classy Style about His Presentation to me.Cool Thread.

Al is the man, point blank. I can't front. He has a peanut head, but he's a great performer. Hell, everytime you listen to the theme song from Moonlighting, you ketp singing to it when it stopped playing.

His best stuff is when he scats and adds lyrics
to jazz songs but he cranks a lot of mediocre smooth
jazz that I haven't really dug into yet.
Anybody check out Kevin Mahognay or Curt Stigers?

Yo PFUNKJAZZ, I'm pretty sure you heard of Pamela Williams...right? I think she has potential as a saxophonist, I wish she'd make a straight ahead jazz record, instead of all of this contemporary smooth jazz crap. Oh...she is FIIINNNE!!!Man, that's a fine sista!!!
