Fat Joe disses women in hiphop, defends Oprah http://www.sohh.com/artic...e.php/9388 Fat Joe speaks on women in hip-hop. Speaking on a panel at the Campus Progress National Student Conference in Washington, D.C. last Wednesday (July 12), Fat Joe shocked many when he gave his two cents on the portrayal of women in hip-hop. "Y'all might as well throw spears at me now," Joe told the audience. "Y'all are going to throw me out, but I think they're bitches and hoes." Unsurprisingly, (Joey) Crack's comments were met with silence. At least until the Bronx, NY bomber added that hip-hop's women could be so much more. "But I also think they're intelligent, beautiful mothers," Joe continued followed by a round of applause. Joe also weighed in on the current "Oprah bites" bandwagon, offering, "Just because she's black doesn't mean she has to like hip-hop. She's keeping it real."

I was starting to get angry in the middle of the article... then he saved himself with those last two comments. Phew!

I guess I need a definition on who exactly "women in hip hop" represents - female rappers? Video chicks? Women who buy the music? Women in general? I wish I had more context - I guess he's saying women can be all of these things... Seems like he wanted a blurb in the papers w/ the whole prepare yourselves/drop the bomb tactics... & he got it...
At least he didn't jump on the Oprah thing

At least he didn't jump on the Oprah thing Think Joe Crack is talking about Video hoes and female rappers. We know how the video chicks act, but also the female rappers. Shawnn, La Chat, old school Foxxy Brown and Kim, what did they rap about "Gettin' some/Give you some ..."? But Joe and the rappers are no better, look what they rap about "Gettin' some". It's all the same. PRINCE: Always and Forever

You're going to have women and men who rather do the "gettin' some" music but we just don't have the other side. Young women have understood that they can make money with their bodies if not more easier than with their minds. On the one hand, I don't diss them completely because i had my spandex dress on, 2 in. from showin' whatever BUT I think having BALANCE was the key.

Its just a trip to get your own sarcasm thrown back in your face and she'll do it so that you really can't get mad at her because the heffa will be RIGHT After I beat her with a stick, I go, "see that's my child " let me tell you guys a secret: I actually talk with my kid. That's all it is. We talk about images in music, abortion, all of it. And back to the subject, Remy Ma is an idiot and this is another reason why this is now such a great issue.Remy has said that women need to get theirs even if its using their bodies to do it. She's the future. See, I don't mind you being a hoe, or representin' for the hoes but damn, be a smart hoe. Some of these young women, who really are trading sex, sexual images, etc for money just aren't even smart about it. [Edited 7/17/06 4:06am]

Yeah my only problem with this statement is that uses the "video chicks" all over his videos, so who is he kidding with this statement. Unless he is doing a total 360 from his image but somehow i think this is just a way to get his name out there, must have a cd coming out again. Can't argue with that kid's logic. It's hard to flame rappers who rap about sex, when most of the musicians we listen to sing about it. Prince, Rick James, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, etc., etc. They all do it.

You know something about her. She isn't just some ho sucking his dick. As a matter of fact, most of the song is about him going down on her. In songs like "Gettin' Some (Head)", women are nothing but nameless, faceless bitches good for getting your dick sucked. The Normal Whores Club

exactly. it's a damned shame, they're basically reduced to nothing more than an anonymous mouth & lips. and rhonda & her daughter:

That Kelis chick has become the # 1 video ho IMHO. I thought Christina's "dirrty" was bad and Jessica Simpsons' "these boots..", but this ho takes the first prize!

How do you figure that? Sorry, I just don't see it. We all see things differently. No need to apologize. The videos I have seen of her are all the same. She acts like she's just giving it away for free. I have no respect for her as an artist. She could be someone more than she is, but she chooses to act like a video ho in some of her videos. Milkshake was a total disgrace. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a little sexuality (I am a Prince fan ) but Kelis just reminds me of every other video ho I've seen over the past couple of years. And, the grill in her mouth is just the most god-awful thing I've seen on a chick in a while. [Edited 7/17/06 13:17pm]
