What do you all think of this new hip-hop artist?



One of the kids I work with just put me on to him. I'm in love with his skater-boy video "Kick Push." His lyrics are clever, positive, respectful of women, and sometimes religious (he's Muslim). Beat-wise, sometimes I feel like I'm transported back to the glory days of the late 80s when I listen to him! Plus, the name? Lupe Fiasco! You know that's fierce.

Is this kid hope for hip-hop?

i've seen the video on MTV, i don't know much about him but the song reminds me of early 90's hip hop era...

I saw the video not too long ago. It's a breath of freah air from Lil Jon's "Snap Yo Fingers" and the like Makes me wanna get out there and pull a Tony Hawk.

He sounds like a girl.

Kick Push is basically the story of my teenage years, almost to the letter. I was 1 of 3 brothas in my neighborhood that skated. Im still close with one of those guys and we tripped the fuck out when we caught this video. Much love to emcee's that go against the grain!

love the CD. he's definately a breath of fresh air for hip hop.....

I'm really looking forward to the album, I think it is out end of August.
I love 'kick push' and he's done a great track with ghostface and fort minor which I'm really hoping is on the album cause I can't find it anywhere else.

My daughters' father and I met in high school, and he was a skater boy - one of only two or so black skater boys in our area. He used to skate across the city from his mom's house to mine in the middle of the night and sneak in the window.

This is my fav rap of the moment...It's different, fresh and he reminds me of a younger version of Kanye West in a nerdy way..

I am sure there will be an explosion of skateboarding this summer..!!

I posted about Lupe Fiasco a few months ago and the thread sank like a Bush approval rating. Lupe Fiasco is one of my fav new cats. Kick Push is the direction that I want hip hop to go into for the rest of the decade. Its great story telling with a mesmorizing instrumental. I dig it. Very Tribe-Slum Villagey.

First time seeing him. Nice.
Kick Push should becomes a movie...even the video has more intrigue than half the "black" street films coming out.
