ROBBIE WILLIAMS : Any Fans in the US ?

Okay , maybe i've missed a thread about this issue , but this dude's European-shows are sold-out here in a matter of hours .
He can put on stage that Freddie Mercury-charisma while staying down-to-earth at the same time which i think is a great combination for an entertainer .
Once he did a show where the band came down from the ceiling on a big platform . And his new tour has a big blingbling-extraordinaire stage-set too so that might appeal to alot of Madonna-fans .
His Intensive Care-album hasn't been officially released in the US .
What the heck is going on ?

I don't get it either
He's the perfect definition of a pop-rock star.

And just take a look at the American Top 40. Not that they're too selective!

I'm a huge fan of Robbie Williams. He's amusing, he writes good pop songs and he's smokin' HAWT. There's not much 2 dis-like 4 me, but American audiences just don't know what 2 make of him.

"Intensive Care" did not have a U.S. release by Robbie's request. It's basically sour grapes that he has not managed 2 match the unbelievable success he's had elsewhere in the world in America.

I'm not sure what you mean by the sour grapes reference? He's Ok but never anything to write home about. He releases good songs here and there. I almost bought his greatest hits CD but didn't bother since it didn't include his Nicole Kidman duet, which I liked. I heard he is making a dance album and working with PSB. That might be worth buying an import.

Ottensen

His videos are always really good. I like the newest one where he plays the religious sect leader with all those pregnant wives, and ends up being targeted by government surveilance lol . Most of the time I can take or leave his songs via radio, but between the live performances and the highly thematic videos, I love to watch him. Great pop performer.

I was dragged by a friend in Glasgow to go see a show at the Barrowlands a few days after his first album was released. As a Take That-hater, I thought it would be embarrassingly-bad, but I was genuinely-impressed by how much he wanted to be his own man, and go off in different directions. I listened to his music until I left the UK in early-2001 (truth be told, it was hard to avoid his music in the UK at that time), and while I still listen to his albums, I don't hear any of his music over here (with the exception of Feel, Better Man, and very occasionally Angels or Let Me Entertain You). I also haven't been impressed by his last few albums - perhaps listening to them out of the context of all the hype takes something away from them, or he's just going downhill...

I have always wanted him to be successful in the US, though - as Pandurito said, he's the perfect definition of a pop star, and his record company (and Robbie himself) have pushed him over here a few times with no success. I don't get it - just one of those things, I guess...

Oh, and I forgot to say that my wife's name is Angel - I met her in '98, when Angels was big, so we danced to that a lot, and used it at our wedding here in the US.

I mean that he's been so disappointed by his lack of stateside success that he decided 2 go the other way entirely and say "Screw America. If they don't want 2 buy my records, I ain't selling 'em there!" Which is okay cuz I buy most of his import stuff anyway. I'm past the dream that I'll ever get 2 see him live without travelling overseas.

I saw him playing last week in a full house (55.000), indeed he is a great performer and if you have seen the dvd 'live in Knebworth' you've an idea of the gig. He played a few numbers from his last album and the rest were his greatest hits. I'm not a big fan, but i had a great evening. For the moment he's very hot in Europe, no idea why not in the US.
