All about the Grillz

Panther send's me this link. Just wanted to share it...
Now I'm curious...how many songs mention these objects of beauty?
I can only think of the Kelis and Nelly songs. Are there more?

I wouldn't know any of the songs anyway, but I truly was curious. I do wonder if there are more songs out there....I'm sure there are many. I know more are coming.

It fascinates me that people would want these in their heads and that they find beauty in them.

Dead On it By Prince sings about a gold tooth that cost more than your house...

But back in 87, it was just a tooth not a whole set of bling bling!

But what if that tooth was the seed? Maybe he's to blame for all this.

I don't think he is. Remember that album didn't officially come out until 1996 a decade after... That song was about pimpin and rappin. I think the bling was already going on by that time via pimps...not really gang bangers or rappers (well maybe rappers).

I recall around the same time "I'm gonna git u sucka" they dealt with the OG or "overgold"...a condition apparently caused by wearing too much gold.

True, but that all goes back to the b-boys...big radios and big chains. That was 80's gold that lead to excesses like Mr. T.

What about this resurgence of gold/bling? Maybe Prince noticed all that untapped real estate and put the suggestion out there. Who knew it would take root in the dirty south?

Someone's got to take the blame for grillz, and as far as music goes, your observation is the closest thing to a clue, so far.

I suspect they'll be around for some time. You'll know their day has come when you can pick up a pair at Walmart. That could be good two years or so.

People please, this is some old country shit that's been around for years & years. LOTS of people down south have gold teeth, the grill shit (as far as I know) is the extreme form of it but there are old ass bammas BURIED w/ gold teeth right now. The only reason it seems new to some of you is b/c of southern rappers getting more exposure these past few years. But the shit is super old...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

It's not just the south. It was big in the west too...it's old world bling.
But we all know this. It's in all the cowboy flix.

We're talking more new world, though....and music industry. And as far as the b-boys, they used to have the one tooth. I was playing with Spaceboy & Just trying to understand this new fascination.

These blingbots are actually Cybermen: Human being that permanently replace ALL of their natural body parts (especially organ tisues) with robot part. And they have no emotions.
